Volleyball At The 2020 Summer Olympics
The volleyball tournaments at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo were played between 24 July and 8 August 2021. 24 volleyball teams and 48 beach volleyball teams participated in the tournament. The indoor volleyball competition took place at Ariake Arena in Ariake, and the beach volleyball tournament at Shiokaze Park, in the temporary Shiokaze Park Stadium. It was originally scheduled to take place in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021. Beach Volleyball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's beach volleyball tournament at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, took place at the Shiokaze Park. The competition was held from 24 July to 6 August 2021. It was originally scheduled to take place from 25 July to 8 August 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021. Because of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. Twenty-four teams with 48 athletes from around the world competed for the gold medal. April Ross and Alix Klineman won the gold medal, defeating Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar in the final, while Joana Heidrich and Anouk Vergé-Dépré won the bronze medal. Barthélémy Ikechi Ross Chinenyeze (born 28 February 1998) is a French professional volleyball player who plays as a middle blocker for Fenerbahçe and the France national team. Anouk Vergé-Dépré (born 11 February 1992) is a Swiss beach volleyball player. Representing her country with teammate Joana Heidrich, she won the bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics and the gold medal at the 2020 European Beach Volleyball Championships. With former teammate Isabelle Forrer, she won third place at the 2016 FIVB World Tour Finals and competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Joana Mäder (, born 2 October 1991) is a Swiss beach volleyball player. She competed with Nadine Zumkehr in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Following Zumkehr's retirement at the close of the 2016 season, she partnered with Anouk Vergé-Dépré, whose own former partner, Isabelle Forrer, likewise retired. Mariafe Artacho del Solar (born 24 October 1993) is an Australian beach volleyball player. She represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Artacho del Solar plays as a right-side defender. Taliqua Clancy (born 25 June 1992) is an Australian volleyball and beach volleyball player who represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in beach volleyball, partnered with Louise Bawden.
