Vlax Romani People
Wallachian Roma or Vlax Roma is the generic term for various Romani groups in Southeastern Europe who speak one of the Vlax Romani dialects. Many migrated from present-day Romania (Wallachia) to the United States in the 18th and 19th centuries to escape slavery. The Vlax Roma claim to retain Romani culture, language, and social structure despite discrimination they have faced. In Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic (where they are known as ''Vlašika'' or ''Olaši''), they migrated from Romania as part of the Kalderash migration wave and are subdivided into the Lovara and other groups. They are far smaller than the Hungarian Roma (known as ''Romungro''), who mainly speak Hungarian and integrated into Hungarian society. History Of The Romani People
The Romani people, also referred to as the Roma, are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group that primarily lives in Europe. They may have migrated north from present-day Rajasthan to present-day Punjab around 250 BC. They may also have migrated from the present-day Sindh. Their subsequent westward migration out of South Asia is believed to have occurred in waves, beginning in the 5th century. It has been suggested that a wave of emigration from India may have taken place during the raids by Mahmud of Ghazni. As these soldiers were defeated, they were moved west with their families into the Byzantine Empire. The author Ralph Lilley Turner has theorised a central Indian origin of the Romani, followed by a migration to northwest India, as the Romani language shares a number of ancient isoglosses with Central Indo-Aryan languages in relation to realization of some sounds of Old Indo-Aryan. Romani In Serbia
Romani people, or Roma (), are the fourth largest ethnic group in Serbia, numbering 131,936 (1.98%) according to the 2022 census. However, due to a legacy of poor birth registration and some other factors, this official number is likely underestimated. Anywhere between 46,000 to 97,000 Roma are internally displaced from Kosovo after 1999. Another name used for the community is ''Cigani'' ( sr-Cyrl, Цигани), although the term is today considered pejorative and is not officially used in public documents. Roma Route
Roma Routes was established in 2007 to encourage the study of European heritage and culture. The project was established by the European Union and ended in 2013. The main purpose of the Roma Route was to break the "cultural barrier" between the Roma and Non-Roma. Romani people, Roma is a very lonely group in Europe, and most European countries have "discrimination" against Roma.
