Vistabella del Maestrat in Valencian or Vistabella del Maestrazgo in Spanish is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Alcalatén, Castellon, Valencia, Spain. It is bordered by the municipalities of Vilafranca, Benassal, Culla, Benafigos, Atzeneta del Maestrat, Xodos, y Villahermosa in the province of Castellon; and Mosqueruela y Puertomingalvo in the province of Teruel. Culla
Culla is a municipality in the '' comarca'' of Alt Maestrat, Castellón, Valencia, Spain. The town is located on a 1,121 m high mountain, right to the SE of the town rises the 1,090 m high Tossal de la Serrà and further away the 1,087 m high Esparreguera, the tallest summit of the Serra d'Esparreguera. Asensio Nebot
Asensio Nebot, known as "The Friar" and born in Nules, Spain in 1779, was a guerrilla in the Kingdom of Valencia during the Peninsular War. His exploits during the Peninsular War are well documented but, as he worked as a secret agent after the end of the war, there are gaps in what is known about his life from 1815 onwards. Peninsular War Asensio Nebot was born in Nules in 1779. He entered the Monastery of Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Villarreal at a very early age to study to become a Franciscan friar. In 1809 the monastery was closed and Nebot joined the fight against the French after Napoleon's invasion of Spain in the Peninsular War. Nebot fought as a guerrilla and was known as ''El Fraile'' or Padre Nebot because of his Franciscan education. He assembled an army of 4,000 men with a cavalry of 500 and a rifle brigade, ''Tupper’s Rifles'', so called because the guns and money had been provided by Peter Charles Tupper, a wealthy British businessman who lived in Valencia. Penyagolosa
Penyagolosa (, es, Peñagolosa) is a mountain in the Alcalatén area, Valencian Community, Spain. Geologically it is part of the Iberian System, located at the eastern end of Iberian Peninsula. Its peak is at 1,813 meters above sea level and is often crowned with snow in the winter. The Penyagolosa is widely considered to be most emblematic mountain in the Valencian Community. Since it stands quite isolated, it was thought to be the highest peak in the region, but actually the highest is the 1,839 meter high Cerro Calderón, located in the Rincón de Ademuz, a Valencian exclave where there are three more peaks over 1,500 m. At the base of the mountain is the important pilgrimage destination of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa.
