Virgil Smith Jr.
Virgil K Smith (born December 18, 1979) is a Democratic former member of the Michigan House of Representatives and Michigan Senate. Smith previously represented the 4th Senate district, which is composed of Allen Park, Lincoln Park, Southgate and the north side of Detroit. From 2003 to 2008, Smith represented State House district 7, comprising the northern tier of Detroit. Personal life Smith is the son of Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan of retired Chief Judge and former Michigan State Senator Virgil C. Smith. On May 6, 2009, Smith married Anistia Thomas. Smith filed for divorce in July 2009, citing a marital breakdown beyond repair. Thomas denied that there was a breakdown in the marriage and counter-sued for an annulment. Michigan's 4th Senate District
Michigan's 4th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Darrin Camilleri since 2023, succeeding fellow Democrat Marshall Bullock. Geography District 4 encompasses part of Wayne County. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 4, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, was based in central Detroit in Wayne County, also covering the nearby communities of Allen Park, Lincoln Park, and Southgate. The district was split three ways among Michigan's 12th, 13th, and 14th congressional districts, and overlapped with the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 10th, 13th, and 14th districts of the Michigan House of Representatives. The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Henry Stallings II (December 30, 1950 – September 7, 2015) was a member of the Michigan State Senate. He represented one of the districts in Detroit. In 1998 he investigated for allegations he had used state employees to do work at his art gallery and paid them with state funds. Though the Ethics Committee recommended expulsion, he pled guilty to a misdemeanor and resigned before a full expulsion vote could be taken.
