Virdee
''Virdee'' is a six-part British crime thriller television series. It is adapted by A A Dhand from his own Bradford-set crime novel series. It stars Staz Nair and was produced by Magical Society for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. It was broadcast in the UK on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on 10 February 2025. Synopsis Harry Virdee is a detective hunting down a killer targeting the Asian community in Bradford. Meanwhile, his Sikh family are dismayed at his decision to marry Saima, who is Muslim. A A Dhand
A A Dhand (Amit Dhand) is a British-Asian crime-writer. His recent books are set in the West Yorkshire city of Bradford, a former industrial city very much a shadow of its former self and rife with social deprivation, crime and complex inter-communal challenges. Early life and education Born in April 1979 and raised in Bradford from age two, the son of an immigrant corner shop owner, Dhand was educated at Fulneck School, a boarding and day private school in the market town of Pudsey (near Leeds) in West Yorkshire. The School features in his novels. He graduated in 2002 with a Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) from the University of Bradford. Life and career Dhand worked as a pharmacist in London before returning to his hometown to start a pharmacy business and write books. He is now a regular contributor to a number of British Asian and crime writers' forums. Staz Nair
Staz Nair is a British actor and singer. He is known for his roles in the HBO series ''Game of Thrones'' (2016–2019), the CW series ''Supergirl'' (2019–2021), and the titular lead in the BBC One series ''Virdee''. Early life and education Staz Nair is of British Indian, Indian and Russians, Russian descent and describes himself as "half Malayali". He was educated at Dr Challoner's Grammar School, a state grammar school for boys, in the market town of Amersham, in Buckinghamshire. Career Music Nair was a member of the band Times Red. James Everingham
James Everingham is a British film and television composer and music producer based in Los Angeles. Everingham’s scores include The Blue Angels, Frozen Planet II, Apollo: Missions to the Moon, The Real Right Stuff and Robin and the Hoods. Kulvinder Ghir is a British actor, comedian and writer. He is best known as one of the cast members in the sketch show '' Goodness Gracious Me'' (1998–2015).
