Vini Vitharana
Kala Keerthi Vini Vitharana () (2 June 1928 – 2 December 2019) was a Sri Lankan Sinhalese linguist, professor, lecturer and a scholar. 1 He was well known for his significant contributions to Sinhala literature. During his lifetime, he was rated as one of the prominent notable educators in the country. Career Vitharana had completed his primary education at the Christ Church College in Tangalle and pursued his secondary school education at Mahinda College, Galle. He obtained bachelor's degrees from the University of Ceylon and University of London. He completed his doctorate in Philosophy in 1966 at the University of Peradeniya. He served as an assistant editor of the Sinhala Encyclopedia from 1957 to 1959 for a period of two years. In 1960, he became a visiting lecturer at the Vidyodaya University. Vini (bird)
''Vini'' is a genus of birds in the family Psittaculidae that are endemic to the islands of the tropical Pacific. There are eleven extant species of these small lorikeets ranging from the Bismark Archipelago through Fiji, Samoa, French Polynesia, and as far east as Henderson Island. All members of the genus have exceptional bright plumage, particularly the unusual all over blues of the blue lorikeet and the ultramarine lorikeet. The ''Vini'' lorikeets are highly threatened by human changes to their islands. Most species have been lost from a number of islands and two species became extinct before the arrival of European explorers in the Pacific. , two species are listed as endangered species by the IUCN and two are considered vulnerable. Sebastiano Vini, also known as Bastiano Veronese (c. 1515 in Caprino Veronese – August 11, 1602 in Pistoia) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period, active mainly in Tuscany. Biography He was the son of Giovanni Piero. It is unknown under whom or where he trained, but his work shows the influence of Paolo Veronese. By 1548, he had married in Pistoia and remained there most of his life. His son, Jacopo Vini was also a painter. He was prolific in Pistoia. Among his works was an ''Annunciation'' (1552) for the later-suppressed church of San Pierino alla Porta Lucchese, then moved to the Sacristy of the Prepositura del Montale.
