' (24 pieces in free style), Op. 31, by Louis Vierne for organ or harmonium were written in two volumes during the years 1913 and 1914. Presentation It is a collection of pieces for organ or harmonium, of medium level (intermediate), with an indication by the author of registrations and nuances. Vierne wrote in the Durand edition: The parts of this collection are calculated in such a way that they can be executed during the normal duration of an Offertory. They are registered for a harmonium of 4.5 stops and for an organ with two keyboards and 18 to 20 stops pedal. It goes without saying that registration is, here, a general indication of colour and that this registration can be modified according to the instruments available to artists. The pipe organ is a musical instrument that produces sound by driving pressurized air (called ''wind'') through the organ pipes selected from a keyboard. Because each pipe produces a single pitch, the pipes are provided in sets called ''ranks'', each of which has a common timbre and volume throughout the keyboard compass. G-sharp Minor
G-sharp minor is a minor scale based on G, consisting of the pitches G, A, B, C, D, E, and F. Its key signature has five sharps. Its relative major is B major. Its parallel major, G-sharp major, is usually replaced by its enharmonic equivalent of A-flat major, since G-sharp major has an F in its key signature, making it impractical to use. A-flat minor, its enharmonic, with seven flats, has a similar problem, thus G-sharp minor is optionally used as the parallel minor for A-flat major. Paul Fauchet
Paul Robert Marcel Fauchet (27 June 1881 – 12 November 1937) was a French composer and organist. Life Born in Paris, the son of the organist of the same name, he studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Alexandre Guilmant and Paul Vidal and won first prizes in counterpoint and fugue, piano accompaniment and harmony. He worked as a coach in the class of Louis Vierne, who dedicated the song from the ''Vingt-quatre pièces en style libre'' to him and was organist at the Église Saint-Pierre-de-Chaillot. From 1927, he taught harmony at the Conservatoire. Joseph Boulnois
Joseph Boulnois (28 January 1884 – 20 October 1918) was a French organist and composer. Biography Boulnois attended the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied counterpoint with Georges Caussade and organ with Louis Vierne. In 1906, he married the pianist Jane Chevalier, and they had a son the following year, Michel Boulnois, who also became a composer and organist. In 1908, he was appointed to the organ of the , in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. He stayed there a short time and was appointed to the organ of the in the 9th arrondissement. Émile Bourdon
Joseph Antoine Émile Bourdon (; 14 February 1884 – 11 July 1974) was a 20th-century French organist and composer. Biography Bourdon was the son of Magdelaine Louise Villate de Peufeilhoux (of noble descent) and Victor-Louis-Gabriel Bourdon (a financier). Later, he became a pupil of Alexandre Guilmant in the Conservatoire de Paris, Bourdon was a condisciple and friend of Marcel Dupré. He was the organist of the great organ of the Saint Nicholas Cathedral of Monaco from 1922 to 1968, before canon Henri Carol succeeded him. In addition, he was professor of organ at the Académie de Musique Fondation Prince Rainier III until 1968. His wife Jeanne Barbezat passed away on 17 August 1974, and Bourdon himself died on 11 July of that year. Alexandre Eugène Cellier
Alexandre Eugène Cellier (17 June 1883, in Molières-sur-Cèze – 4 March 1968, in Paris) was a French organist and composer. Cellier studied organ with Alexandre Guilmant until 1908. In 1908, he won the first prize for organ at the Conservatoire de Paris. Before that, he also studied with Henri Dallier and Charles-Marie Widor. He was the organist ''Titulaire'' of the Temple de l'Étoile in Paris from 1910 until his death in 1968. The organ he used was a 3-manual Cavaillé-Coll organ with 32 stops, which was extended by Mutin (Cavaillé-Coll) in 1914.
