Villanova (SEPTA NHSL Station)
Villanova station is a SEPTA Metro rapid transit station near the campus of Villanova University in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania. It serves the Norristown High Speed Line (Route 100). All trains stop at Villanova. The station lies from 69th Street Transit Center. The station has off-street parking available. Villanova station lies east of the former Strafford Spur, which was closed by the Philadelphia and Western Railroad in 1956. The former right of way between Strafford and Radnor serves as the Radnor Trail, P&W Bicycle Trail. Radnor Township, often called simply Radnor, is a first class township with home rule status in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2019 United States census estimate, the township population is 31,875. 69th Street Transit Center is a SEPTA terminal in the Terminal Square area of Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania. It serves the SEPTA Metro L, M, D, and multiple SEPTA bus routes. Philadelphia And Western Railroad
The Philadelphia and Western Railroad was a high-speed, third rail-equipped, commuter-hauling interurban electric railroad operating in the western suburbs of the U.S. city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is now SEPTA's Norristown High Speed Line, though the Strafford spur has been abandoned. Part of the abandoned line within Radnor Township is now the Radnor Trail, a multi-use path or rail trail. Lines The current line runs from 69th Street Terminal just west of the Philadelphia city line, west and north to Norristown, splitting from the original main line at Villanova Junction.
