Eduard Vieweg
Hans Heinrich Eduard Vieweg (15 July 1797, Berlin - 1 December 1869, Braunschweig) was a German publisher; the owner of Vieweg Verlag. Biography He was born to the publisher and bookseller, Friedrich Vieweg. When his family moved to Braunschweig, in 1799, he came under the influence of his grandfather, the educator and publisher, Joachim Heinrich Campe. He attended grammar school there, but joined the Hussar regiment in 1813, and was promoted to Sergeant the following year. After participating in several campaigns, he was placed on leave with a foot ailment, possibly caused by poor riding habits, and was discharged in 1815. After some initial training at his father's company, from 1821 to 1823 he worked for Hoffmann und Campe, operated by his uncle, in Hamburg. After that, he visited England and France where, in Paris, he befriended the chemist, and his future business partner, Justus von Liebig. Friedrich Vieweg
Johann Friedrich Vieweg (; 11 March 1761 – 25 December 1835) was a German publisher and the founder of Vieweg Verlag. Early life He was the son of master tailor Johann Valentin Vieweg (d. 1785), who later owned a starch factory. After cancelling an apprenticeship in Magdeburg, a chance acquaintance with Friedrich Nicolai led him to become a bookseller in the Halle Orphanage bookstore. His experience there led to a position as an assistant at the Bohn Bookstore in Hamburg. It was there he met the publisher Joachim Heinrich Campe and his daughter Charlotte, who would become Vieweg's wife. In 1784, he moved to Berlin to look after the Mylius Bookstore, whose owner was ill. After the owner's death in 1786, Vieweg founded his own publishing business. Kurt Vieweg
Kurt Vieweg (born 29 October 1911 in Göttingen – died 2 December 1976 in Greifswald) was one of the leading agricultural politicians in the early years of the GDR. He was at various times Secretary General of the VdgB (the Peasants Mutual Aid Association), deputy in the parliament (the Volkskammer) and a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, SED.
