Local government in Nepal is the third level of government division in Nepal, which is administered by the provincial governments which in turn is beneath the federal government. Article 56 of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 defines local government as rural municipalities, municipalities and district assemblies. The governing body of the rural municipalities and municipalities is referred to as the village executive and municipal executive respectively. Village Development Committee (India)
Village Development Committees (VDCs) are voluntary associations of village people for local administration. They are extra constitutional authorities. VDCs consist of two members each from each caste in the village. The unity of villages can be accredited to this VDCs. The decision of VDCs are ultimate in the concerned villages and persons who disobey the judgement of VDC are boycotted from the villages. The villagers solve local problems through the help of VDCs and they never need the help of Police and Courts. Rural Community Council
The rural community councils (RCCs) were established in rural England during the twentieth century to promote rural community life. Each shire county now has one, although some are relative newcomers. The RCCs also form a national coalition called Action with Communities in Rural England ("ACRE"). Each RCC is an independent, locally managed organisation but is dependent on external funding for its continued work. Historically, RCCs were primarily funded by the Rural Development Commission, but this role was subsequently taken over by the Countryside Agency. A municipality () in Nepal is an administrative division in the Provinces of Nepal. The urban population of Nepal refers to the inhabitants residing in the designated municipal area.
