Varenne (foaled in Copparo, Italy, 19 May 1995) is a dark bay racing trotter by Waikiki Beach out of Ialmaz by Zebu. Varenne is considered to be the best trotter of all time. No other trotter has won so many of the most important races in the world and set as many records as Varenne. Overview According to several veterinarians, Varenne would never race due to a leg malformation. His first owner bought him for $6000, but because of his perceived handicap (chip) sold him after the first race, considering him to have no future as a race horse. Varenne won 62 races (53 GPs-major races) at 11 distances (from 0,99 mile to 1,708 miles), while finishing second six times and third twice from 73 career starts. He earned US$8,750,000 (€6,035,665), a harness-racing record. Varenne holds the record as the most widely traveled horse in the history of horse racing, winning in 7 countries and on two continents. Varenne-Saint-Germain () is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France. Geography Varenne-Saint-Germain is bordered by the Digoin commune to the north, Vitry-en-Charollais to the east, Saint-Yan to the south and Chassenard to the west. The Arconce flows north-northwest through the middle of the commune, then flows into the Loire, which forms parts of the commune's western border. Varenne () is a station on Line 13 of the Paris Métro. Located in the 7th arrondissement, it is named after the Rue de Varenne. History The station opened on 20 December 1923 as part of the original section of Line 10 between Invalides and Croix-Rouge (a station east of Sèvres-Babylone, which was closed during World War II). On 27 July 1937 the section of Line 10 between Invalides and Duroc was transferred to become the first section of the old Line 14, which was connected under the Seine and incorporated into Line 13 on 9 November 1976. The Rue de Varenne runs east from the station. La Varenne–Chennevières station is a French railway station in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, in Val-de-Marne, France. The station The RER station was designed by Marcel Lods and opened in 1969. It is named after the former ''commune'' La Varenne, now part of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, and the close ''commune'' Chennevières-sur-Marne. The Varenne () is a river of Normandy, France, in length, flowing through the department of Seine-Maritime. It is a tributary of the river Arques. Guillaume Fouquet de la Varenne (1560 in La Flèche – 7 December 1616) was a French chef who became an important statesman in the service of Henry IV. Biography Guillaume Fouquet was born into a bourgeois family in La Flèche (France, Loire valley). His father, Martin Fouquet, was master chef ''("écuyer de cuisine")'' to Françoise d'Alençon, Duchess of Vendôme. Alex Varenne (29 August 1939 – 19 October 2020) was a French comic book artist and writer, known by his erotic works. He worked often in collaboration with his brother Daniel Varenne.
