Van Cortlandt Park
Van Cortlandt Park is a urban park, park located in the borough (New York City), borough of the Bronx in New York City. Owned by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, it is managed with assistance from the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance. The park, the city's third-largest, was named for the Van Cortlandt family, which was prominent in the area during the New Netherland, Dutch and Province of New York, English colonial periods. Van Cortlandt Park–242nd Street Station
The Van Cortlandt Park–242nd Street station is the northern terminal station of the New York City Subway's IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line. Located at the intersection of 242nd Street and Broadway (Manhattan), Broadway (U.S. Route 9 in New York, US Route 9) in the Riverdale, Bronx, Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx, it is served by the 1 (New York City Subway service), 1 train at all times. It is adjacent to Van Cortlandt Park to the east, Manhattan University, and the 240th Street Yard of the subway system, along with the affluent neighborhoods of Fieldston, Bronx, Fieldston and Riverdale, Bronx, Riverdale to the west.
