Valaste Waterfall
Valaste Falls () is the highest waterfall in Estonia and neighboring regions (). It is located between Ontika and Valaste in Toila Parish of Ida-Viru County and is formed by Valaste Creek () as it flows over the Baltic Klint not far from the shore of the Gulf of Finland. It is a popular tourist attraction, with its spray freezing up in winter. The site has a parking lot, some explanatory signs, and a trail using a double spiral staircase to reach the bottom of the cliff. Opposite the waterfall, a viewing platform has been built, and this offers views of the falls. The platform was taken out of service and the stairs to it were closed in 2013. A new staircase with platforms and walkways to the shore of the Gulf of Finland was built and opened to the public in 2018. Ida-Viru County
Ida-Viru County ( or ; ) is one of the 15 counties of Estonia. It is the most northeastern part of the country. The county contains large deposits of oil shale the main mineral mined in Estonia. Oil shale is used in the production of shale oil and in thermal power plants. The capital of the county is the town of Jõhvi which is administratively united with the Jõhvi Parish; nevertheless, Narva is the largest town in the county in terms of population and at the same time the third largest city in Estonia after Tallinn and Tartu. In January 2019 Ida-Viru County had a population of 136,240 – constituting 10.3% of the total population in Estonia. Toila Parish
Toila Parish () is an Estonian municipality located in Ida-Viru County. It has a population of 4,735 (2019) and an area of 266 km². History Toila Parish was formed in the course of the 2017 administrative reform of Estonian municipalities by the merger of Kohtla-Nõmme Parish, the former Toila Rural Municipality and Kohtla Rural Municipality. Originally, it was also planned to join Jõhvi municipality. At the end of 2022, the municipalities of Toila and Jõhvi started accession talks again. Baltic Klint
The Baltic Klint (Clint, Glint; , , ) is an erosional limestone escarpment and cuesta on several islands of the Baltic Sea, in Estonia, in Leningrad Oblast of Russia and in the islands of Gotland and Öland of Sweden. It was featured on the reverse of the Estonian kroon, 50 krooni note of 1928 and on the Estonian kroon, 100 krooni note of 1992. The Baltic Klint is active landform showing some Scarp retreat, retreat in the present. However it is not known to which degree the Baltic Klint originated in postglacial time or if it evolved from cliff-like forms sculpted by the Weichselian glaciation, Fennoscandian Ice Sheet.
