Val Armstrong
Val Armstrong is an English radio presenter, broadcast journalist and head of presentation at CRFM, Carlisle. She is best known for her work on BBC Radio Cumbria. Career Val Armstrong began working in radio at the age of 17. In 1982, she joined BBC Radio Carlisle - now BBC Radio Cumbria. She has worked as a journalist, producer, and presenter. She is experienced in presenting a wide range or programmes. Prior to her broadcasting career, Val had a Saturday job in a jeans shop and a worked part time in a cotton wool factory. She regularly raises funds and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support, after battling cancer twice. Armstrong kept a diary of her cancer journey for the BBC news website. She has raised thousands of pounds for a whole variety of charities - both local and national - across the years. CRFM
CRFM is a local radio station serving the people of Carlisle and broadcasts worldwide online. History CRFM launched on 15 April 2024 at 8am. The studios are named after the late broadcaster John Myers. The station is not to be confused with CFM, which now broadcasts as Greatest Hits Radio Cumbria & South West Scotland. One of the station's co-founders is former radio presenter Darrell Thomas, who is the managing director. CRFM is run entirely by volunteers, who live and work in Carlisle or Cumbria, and will showcase local artists musical talents to local sports news, local news updates, and giving the lowdown on all the upcoming events. The 'On Air' team has extensive professional experience. These include Bekah Fowler, Marc Allan, Joanne Lee, Craig McCarron, Ian Timms, Joe Costin, Andy Wood, Paul Braithwaite and Val Armstrong. Carlisle
Carlisle ( , ; from ) is a city in the Cumberland district of Cumbria, England. Carlisle's early history is marked by the establishment of a settlement called Luguvalium to serve forts along Hadrian's Wall in Roman Britain. Due to its proximity to Scotland (being located south of the current Anglo-Scottish border), Carlisle Castle and the city became an important military stronghold in the Middle Ages. The castle served as a prison for Mary, Queen of Scots in 1568 and currently hosts the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and the Border Regiment Museum. Major depressive disorder (MDD), also known as clinical depression, is a mental disorder characterized by at least two weeks of pervasive depression (mood), low mood, low self-esteem, and anhedonia, loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities.
