Uzbekistan participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Uzbekistan made its debut at the Asian Games in 1994 Hiroshima, and the best achievement was in 2002 Busan, with the acquisition of 15 gold, 12 silver and 24 bronze medals. At the last edition in Incheon, the country wrapped up its campaign with 45 medals in all - nine gold, 14 silver and 22 bronze. The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan ( Latinised- uz, Oʻzbekiston Milliy Olimpiya qoʻmitasi) is the National Olympic Committee representing Uzbekistan. It was founded in the year of 1992, although it was not recognised by the International Olympic Committee until 1 January 1993. The headquarters of the committee is in the capital city of Tashkent. Muminjon Abdullaev
Muminjon Abdullaev (born 24 December 1989) is an Uzbekistani Greco-Roman wrestler. Career He who won a bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Wrestling Championships in the 96 kg division. He competed in the 120 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was eliminated in the 1/8 finals by Dremiel Byers. Later in 2012 Abdullaev tested positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid, and was banned for two years until 20 November 2014. In 2021, he competed in the men's 130 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In 2022, he won one of the bronze medals in his event at the Vehbi Emre & Hamit Kaplan Tournament held in Istanbul, Turkey. Denis Istomin
Denis Olegovich Istomin (born 7 September 1986) is an Uzbek professional tennis player. He has won two singles titles (at the 2015 Aegon Open Nottingham and 2017 Chengdu Open) and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 33 in August 2012. In January 2017, he defeated defending champion Novak Djokovic in the second round of the Australian Open. Personal life Denis Istomin was born in Orenburg to Russian parents Oleg and Klaudiya Istomin. His father moved the family to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, when Denis was 3 months old. Denis is coached by his mother, who introduced him to the sport at an early age. Injuries resulting from a car crash in 2001 en route to an event kept Istomin away from tennis for 2 years, with doctors initially stating that he would never hold a racquet again.
