Untouchables (punk Band)
The Untouchables were an American hardcore punk band that arose from the Washington, D.C. hardcore punk scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band existed from October 1979 until January 1981 and released four tracks. The Untouchables spawned a wide range of Washington, D.C., musical talents. Alec MacKaye, younger brother of Minor Threat/Fugazi member and Dischord Records founder Ian MacKaye, went on to sing with The Faith, Ignition and The Warmers. Guitarist Edward Janney went on to play with The Faith, Rites of Spring, One Last Wish, Skewbald/Grand Union and Happy Go Licky. Bassist Bert Queiroz later played in Youth Brigade, Double-O, Second Wind, Meatmen, Rain and Manifesto. Drummer Richard Moore also played in the Meatmen, Double-O and Second Wind. Together Richard Moore and Bert Queiroz started their own independent record label, R&B Records. Happy Go Licky
Happy Go Licky was an American post-hardcore band formed in the spring of 1987, and which broke up after their final show at Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club on New Year's Day in 1988. The group was a short-lived reunion of the renowned D.C. hardcore band Rites of Spring (active from 1984 to 1986). Though comprising the same personnel as Rites of Spring ( Eddie Janney and Guy Picciotto on guitar and vocals; Mike Fellows on bass and vocals; Brendan Canty on drums), their music was vastly different from their earlier incarnation. Happy Go Licky was far more experimental, often incorporating tape loops and sound effects into their live performances; additionally, their songs were often largely or entirely improvised, and featured unusual structures. "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" is a rock song written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. It was first recorded by the English band the Liverpool Five in early 1966 but remained unreleased before summer of that same year. In the meantime, the American band Paul Revere & the Raiders recorded the song which appeared on their album '' Midnight Ride'', released in May 1966. ''American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock 1980–1986'' is a documentary directed and produced by Paul Rachman and written by Steven Blush. It is based on the 2001 book '' American Hardcore: A Tribal History'' also written by Blush. It world premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and was released on September 22, 2006 on a limited basis by Sony Pictures Classics. The film features some early pioneers of the hardcore punk music scene including Bad Brains, Black Flag, D.O.A., Minor Threat, Minutemen, SSD, and others. It was released on DVD by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on February 20, 2007. Dirty (Sonic Youth Album)
''Dirty'' is the seventh full-length studio album and second double album by American rock band Sonic Youth, released on July 21, 1992, by DGC Records. The band recorded and co-produced the album with Butch Vig in early 1992 at the Magic Shop recording studios. The sound on ''Dirty'' was inspired by the popularity of grunge music at the time, and has been described by ''Billboard'' magazine as experimental rock. ''Dirty'' reached number 83 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and number six on the UK Albums Chart. Sonic Youth
Sonic Youth were an American rock band formed in New York City in 1981. Founding members Kim Gordon (bass, vocals, guitar), Thurston Moore (lead guitar, vocals) and Lee Ranaldo (rhythm guitar, vocals) remained together for the entire history of the band, while Steve Shelley (drums) followed a series of short-term drummers in 1985, rounding out the core line-up.
