The University of New Haven (UNH) is a private university in West Haven, Connecticut, United States. History The University of New Haven was founded in 1920 as the New Haven YMCA Junior College, a division of Northeastern University, which shared buildings, laboratories, and faculty members on the campus of Yale University, for nearly 40 years. Academics The University of New Haven has 109 undergraduate programs and 116 graduate programs. The university is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, a successor of the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and has been since 1948. In 2015, the University of New Haven's College of Business received accreditation from AACSB International, and in 2020 that accreditation was renewed through the 2024–2025 academic year. WNHU (88.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a variety format. Licensed to West Haven, Connecticut, United States, the station serves the New Haven area. The station is owned by the University of New Haven. The WNHU studios moved to its current home on Ruden Street into the Lois Evalyn Bergami Broadcast Media Center in the year 2015. Its location on Ruden Street includes a production space for live and recorded programming, a server room, staff offices and a student lounge. WNHU is currently managed by a 7- person student leadership team. Cameron Steward Drew (born February 12, 1964) is an American former professional baseball player. He made his Major League Baseball debut on September 9, 1988. Previous knee injuries limited his major league career to seven games. Drew was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 1st round (12th pick) of the 1985 amateur draft after starring on the University of New Haven baseball team. Drew collected numerous awards in his brief rise through the minor leagues and was tapped by many scouts at the time to be a superstar. Jamaal Anthony Bowman (born April 1, 1976) is an American former politician and former educator who served from 2021 to 2025 as the United States representative for New York's 16th congressional district. Bowman is the founder and former principal of the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action, a public middle school in Eastchester, Bronx. Stephen Wayne Bedrosian (born December 6, 1957), nicknamed "Bedrock", is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 14 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), primarily with the Atlanta Braves. He also played for the Philadelphia Phillies, where he won the 1987 National League Cy Young Award, and the Minnesota Twins, where he won the 1991 World Series.
