University Of Namibia Department Of Political Science
The University of Namibia Political Science or UNAM Political Science Department, is a department within the University of Namibia's Faculty of Economic and Management studies in Windhoek Namibia. It is responsible for directing research and teaching programs in the fields of political science and social science. The department was first established in 1992 at the founding of the university. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD degrees level in Public Administration, Sociology, Political Science International Relations and Philosophy some of which are interfaculty linked. Recognition and research The department has been the centre of key Namibian policy shift since its formation. It has also produced several notable political leaders to its ranks. Its Professor Emeritus André du Pisani has published over 50 research projects in mapping the future of Namibia since 1990. André du Pisani (born 15 January 1949) is a Namibian Namibia (, ), officially the Republic of Namibia, is a country in Southern Africa. Its western border is the Atlantic Ocean. Utaara Mootu
Utaara Mootu is a Namibian politician, youth leader and activist. She is an elected member of the Parliament of Namibia following the 2019 elections, representing the Landless People's Movement (Namibia) and serves as the party's parliamentary spokesperson. Early life Utaara was born in Windhoek on 19 January 1996. She began her education in 2002 at Van Rhyn Primary school in Windhoek, and then Concordia Secondary School. Tangeni Amupadhi is a Namibian journalist. He is the Editor-in-chief of ''The Namibian'', Namibia's largest English daily newspaper. Alfredo Tjiurimo Hengari (born 8 December 1974 in Windhoek) is a Namibian who serves as the presidential press secretary to President Hage Geingob. Hengari schooled at A. Affirmative Repositioning
Affirmative Repositioning (AR) is a leftist political movement in Namibia mainly focused on land reform, youth empowerment and social reform. Founded in 2014 by Job Amupanda, Dimbulukeni Nauyoma and George Kambala, the AR uses social media platforms to mobilise residents to apply for ''erven'' (small residential land titles) from municipalities. Due to thousands of youth submitting their forms on the same day, these activities have the character of mass demonstrations. The movement had, in a first round in November 2014, achieved a wave of individual land applications in Windhoek, Namibia's capital, which had since spread to other Namibian towns. Peya Mushelenga
Samuel Abraham Peyavali "Peya" Mushelenga (born September 01, 1975 in Oshigambo, Ovamboland) is a Namibian politician and poet. He is broadly educated, holding twelve academic qualifications from six different universities. A member of SWAPO, Mushelenga has been a member of the National Assembly of Namibia since 2005. He has served cabinet in several ministerial roles and is the minister of Information and Communication Technologies since March 2020. Landless People's Movement (Namibia)
The Landless People's Movement (LPM) is a political party in Namibia. It is led by former deputy minister of lands and resettlement Bernadus Swartbooi, who serves as its president and chief change campaigner, and Henny Seibeb, the party's deputy leader. Joseph Kalimbwe (born 25 March 1993) is a Zambian politician at the ruling United Party for National Development of Hakainde Hichilema, author and activist. Previously, he was president of the African Union youth simulation in 2014 and president of the student representative council of the University of Namibia in 2017. Job Shipululo Amupanda (born 28 August 1987 in Omaalala, Oshana Region) is a Namibian activist and politician who served as Mayor of the City of Windhoek, in office from 2 December 2020 to 1 December 2021. University of Namibia Student Representative Council (also known as the UNAM SRC) was founded on 20 February 1992, and is recognised as the legal representative body for the students of the University of Namibia by the University of Namibia Act 18 of 1992.
