University Grants Commission Of Bangladesh
University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (; abbreviated as UCG) is the apex body responsible for overseeing higher education in Bangladesh, ensuring quality standards, and advising on university development. It was established on 16 December 1972, according to the Presidential Order (P.O. No 10 of 1973) of the Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh. It regulates public and private universities, promoting academic excellence and supporting research initiatives across the country. History In 2010, the Government of Bangladesh announced reform in the UGC, deciding to change UGC into Higher Education Commission of Bangladesh (HEC), which would supposedly develop, expand and enhance the quality of tertiary education in the country. Crest (heraldry)
A crest is a component of a heraldic display, consisting of the device borne on top of the helm. ABM Habibullah
Abu Mohammed Habibullah (1911 – 3 June 1983), also known as ABM Habibullah, was a Bangladeshi historian and writer. Early life Habibullah was born on 1911 in Burdwan District, West Bengal, British India. He graduated from Hughli Madrasa in 1926 and Islamic Intermediate College, Dhaka (later Kabi Nazrul Government College) in 1928. He graduated with a B.A. in history from Hooghly Mohsin College in 1931 and a M.A. in history from the University of Calcutta in 1933. He earned his PhD from the School of Oriental Studies of the University of London. He also received a diploma in library science. Career Habibullah joined Calcutta Madrasa in 1938 as a librarian. He joined the History Department of the University of Calcutta as a lecturer in 1939. Bangladesh Agricultural University
Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is a Public university, public agricultural university in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. It was founded in 1961 by the Pakistani government as East Pakistan Agricultural University. It is the third-oldest university in the country. Its campus covers on the west bank of the Old Brahmaputra River. Its academic activities take place under six faculties, which are subdivided into 45 departments. The University of Dhaka (), also known as Dhaka University (DU), is a public university, public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established in 1921, it is the oldest active university in the country. The University of Dhaka was founded in 1921 under the Dacca University Act 1920 of the Indian Legislative Council. Kazi Shahidullah
Kazi Shahidullah (; 1952 or 1953 – 19 March 2025) was a Bangladeshi academic and chairman of Bangladesh University Grants Commission from 2019 to 2024. Career Shahidullah served as the vice-chancellor of the National University of Bangladesh from 2009 to 2013. He taught history at the University of Dhaka. In the aftermath of 2024 Non-cooperation movement in Bangladesh, Shahidullah resigned as chairman of Bangladesh University Grants Commission on 11 August 2024, citing illness. Abdul Mannan (educator)
Abdul Mannan is a Bangladeshi educator. He served as the 12th chairman of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh during 2015–2019 and the vice-chancellor of the University of Chittagong during 1996–2001. Education and career Mannan earned his master's in Management from the University of Dhaka in 1972. He completed his graduate and post-graduate studies from the University of Hawaii and the Miami University in 1978. Nazrul Islam (professor)
Nazrul Islam is an urban planner, chairman of the Centre for Urban Studies, and former chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. He is the former chairman of Dhaka WASA. Iajuddin Ahmed
Iajuddin Ahmed (1 February 193110 December 2012) was the President of Bangladesh, serving from 6 September 2002 until 12 February 2009. With a doctorate in soil science, Ahmed became a full professor at the University of Dhaka and chairman of the department.
