These are tables of United States Congress, congressional delegations from West Virginia to the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. The current dean of the West Virginia delegation is United States Senate, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, having served in the Senate since 2015 and in Congress since 2001. From June 1861 to June 1863, during the American Civil War, Civil War and before West Virginia statehood, the United States recognized the Restored Government of Virginia sitting in Wheeling, West Virginia, Wheeling as the "legitimate", pro-Union government of Virginia. Unionist Politician (American Civil War)
Unionists in the border states organized political parties to oppose secession from the United States during the American Civil War. They extended critical support to the wartime administration of Abraham Lincoln while remaining outside Lincoln's Republican Party. While some harbored antislavery sympathies, most Unionists viewed the abolitionist movement with hostility and initially resisted Lincoln's efforts on behalf of emancipation. Unionist governments were opposed by Copperheads who opposed Lincoln's wartime policies and in some cases the war itself, as well as Confederate regular and irregular military forces. West Virginia's 2nd congressional district consists of the northern half of the state. It contains Barbour, Berkeley, Brooke, Doddridge, Grant, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jefferson, Lewis, Marion, Marshall, Mineral, Monongalia, Morgan, Ohio, Pleasants, Preston, Randolph, Ritchie, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Wetzel, and Wood counties. The district is currently represented by Riley Moore, a United States Republican Party, Republican. The legislature placed both the previous 1st district congressman David McKinley and the previous 2nd district congressman Alex Mooney in the new 2nd district, setting up a Republican primary race between Mooney and McKinley. Harpers Ferry, West Virginia
Harpers Ferry is a historic town in Jefferson County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 269 at the 2020 United States census. Riley Moore
Riley McGowan Moore (born July 1, 1980) is an American politician who has been the U.S. representative for West Virginia's 2nd congressional district since January 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the 25th West Virginia State Treasurer from 2021 to 2025 and represented district 67 in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2017 to 2019. Carol Miller (née Devine; born November 4, 1950) is an American farmer, educator, and politician who has represented West Virginia's 1st congressional district since 2019. The district, numbered as the 3rd district from 2019 to 2023, covers the southern half of the state, including Huntington, Charleston, Bluefield, and Beckley.
