USA Team Handball is the governing body for handball in the United States. USA Team Handball is funded in part by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Previously, the governing body was the United States Team Handball Federation. USA Team Handball is led by an 9-person Board of Directors. The president is Michael J. Wall. USA Team Handball organizes the participation of U.S. national teams in international competitions, such as the Summer Olympics and the Pan American Games. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The 2013 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 19th edition of the tournament and was held in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 14 – 28 July 2013.
