United Malays National Organisation
The United Malays National Organisation (Abbreviation, abbrev: UMNO; , PEKEMBAR) is a Conservatism, conservative, Nationalism, Malay nationalist political party in Malaysia. As the oldest national political party in the country (since its inception in 1946), UMNO has been known as Malaysia's "Grand Old Party". UMNO is a founding and the principal dominant member of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, which taken along with its predecessor Alliance Party (Malaysia), Alliance, had been the main governing party of Malaysia from the Federation of Malaya Independence Act 1957, independence of Malaya in 1957 until its defeat in the 2018 Malaysian general election, 2018 general election. Sabah People's United Front
Sabah People's United Front or in Malay ''Parti Bersatu Rakyat Jelata Sabah'' is more commonly known by its abbreviation BERJAYA, was a political party based in the state of Sabah, Malaysia. BERJAYA was formed by former United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) secretary-general Harris Salleh who was later joined by Fuad Stephens, who served as the first Chief Minister of Sabah as well as president of the United Pasokmomogun Kadazan Organisation (UPKO). Stephens became the fifth Chief Minister after BERJAYA won the 1976 state election in April but died in June the same year, being succeeded by Salleh. The party had been a partner of Barisan Nasional (BN), the then ruling coalition of Malaysia since its inception on 15 July 1975. United Sabah National Organisation
The United Sabah National Organisation (; abbreviation, abbrev: USNO) was a political party in Crown Colony of North Borneo, North Borneo and later Sabah, Malaysia. The widely known Sabah's Muslim Orang Asal, indigenous especially Tausūg people, Suluk-Bajau people, Bajau ethnic based party was founded by the third Chief Minister of Sabah; Mustapha Harun in December 1961. Prior to the formation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963, USNO played a major role in cooperation with United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO), led by Fuad Stephens, Donald Stephens, and the Federation of Malaya, in attaining independence from the United Kingdom, British. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi (; born 4 January 1953) is a Malaysian politician who has served as Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development (Malaysia), Minister of Rural and Regional Development since December 2022. A member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), he has served as its leader and the Chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition since May 2018. Harian Metro is a Malaysian daily newspaper published in the Malay language by the New Straits Times Press. Established in March 1991, it was Malaysia's first afternoon Malay-language tabloid in the Klang Valley, distinguishing it from the morning tabloids common in other parts of the country. Harian Metro is recognized as the first and oldest Malay-language tabloid and is currently the highest-circulating newspaper in Malaysia, across all languages. Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) was one of Singapore's two state media companies, which published ''The Straits Times'', numerous other newspapers and operated radio, television and digital media. In 2021, the media division was spun off as SPH Media, leaving behind the property and aged care businesses. Since its takeover by Cuscaden Peak in 2022, it has been renamed Cuscaden Peak Investments. At its peak, SPH had over 4,000 employees. ''BH'', previously known as ''Berita Harian'', is a Malay daily newspaper in Malaysia, published by the New Straits Times Press. It was first issued on 1 July 1957. Its Sunday edition, ''BH Ahad'' (formerly ''Berita Minggu''), debuted on 10th of July 1960. By 2004, ''Berita Harian'' had a daily circulation of around 238,000 copies. Pricing strategies were adjusted to accommodate readers in different regions, such as Sabah and Sarawak. History BH was the first Romanized Malay morning newspaper when it launched on 1 July 1957. New Straits Times
The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. It is Malaysia's oldest newspaper still in print (though not the first), having been founded as a local offshoot of Singapore-based ''The Straits Times'' on 15 July 1845. It was renamed as the ''New Straits Times'' on 13 August 1974. The paper served as Malaysia's only broadsheet format English-language newspaper; however, following the example of British newspapers ''The Times'' and ''The Independent'', a tabloid version first rolled off the presses on 1 September 2004 and since 18 April 2005, the newspaper has been published only in tabloid size, ending a 160-year-old tradition of broadsheet publication.
