Union Hall (Adelaide)
Union Hall was a theatre, hall and lecture theatre located on the North Terrace, Adelaide, North Terrace campus of the University of Adelaide, in South Australia. Constructed in 1958, Union Hall served as a performance venue for various festivals and productions until 2007. It was demolished in November 2010 to make way for a new science precinct. History In 1955, in response to a shortage of student space on the North Terrace campus, the University of Adelaide began a public appeal for funds with which to renovate and expand the buildings of the Adelaide University Union (AUU). The appeal raised Australian pound, £103,761, with notable contributions including £6,000 from the AUU and £12,000 from Holden. The majority of these funds were set aside to erect a multi-purpose theatre for the Union's use. Union Hall, County Cork
Union Hall (), also Unionhall, is a small fishing village in County Cork, Ireland, located on the west side of Glandore Harbour. Its nearest neighbour to the west is Castletownshend; to the east, Glandore village. It is approximately 10 kilometres south-east of Skibbereen. As of the 2022 census, 359 people were living in Union Hall. A key source of employment in the area is fishing, and the pier has its own ice plant and fish processing factory run by Glenmar Shellfish Ltd. Tourism is also an economic driver, and among the area's attractions are boat trips to view whales, dolphins and seals. Location and access The coastal village lies on a hill, and has a small harbour for small fishing boats and other small craft. By road it is accessible over the narrow Poulgorm Bridge on the R597 regional road to Glandore, Rosscarbery and Leap. Union Hall is a historic meeting hall near the junction of Depot and Central Streets in Danforth, Maine. Built in 1890, the hall has served since then as a venue for private and public events, including town meetings and other municipal functions, and as a meeting point for fraternal organizations including the Masons and the Odd Fellows. It is a prominent landmark in the village center. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Union Hall is the town hall of Searsport, Maine. It is located at 3 Reservoir Street in the town center. Built in 1863, it is a remarkably sophisticated example of Italianate architecture for a relatively small town, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 for its architecture. Description and history Union Hall is located in the village center of Searsport, on the east side of Reservoir Street a short way north of United States Route 1. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboard siding. The ground floor is relatively low, housing town offices, while the upper level is tall, housing the auditorium space. The building has quoined corners, bracketed eaves, and entrances on the short ends that are flanked by pilasters. Union Hall (Truro, Massachusetts)
Truro Town Hall, formerly Union Hall, is the town hall of Truro, Massachusetts. It is located on Town Hall Road, east of Massachusetts Route 6. The two story wood-frame building was built in 1848 to serve as a meeting place for several fraternal organizations, including the International Order of Odd Fellows and the Sons of Temperance. It served these organizations for only a few years, and was rented by the town for town meetings for a time before being purchased by the town. The building exhibits Greek Revival features, including corner pilasters and a deep architrave. The roof is topped by an octagonal cupola mounted on a square structure.
