Under-23 Sport
Under-23 sport is a competitive age category grouping within sports for athletes under the age of twenty-three. An extension of age categories found in youth sports, the under-23 category is for adults who are still in a developmental stage within their chosen discipline. The intention of the grouping is to allow such adults to improve their skills against opponents of a similar standard, as opposed to elite level of competition found in open senior level competitions, where they may not receive competitive opportunities or may find their development hindered by significant ability differences. The under-23 category roughly corresponds with the age of athletes found competing in college athletics, although in the latter grouping there is a required academic element for student-athletes and typically no upper age limit (in the case of adult learners). The Asian Women's U23 Volleyball Championship is an international volleyball competition in Asia and Oceania contested by the under 23 Women's national teams of the members of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the sport's continent governing body. The first championship was held in Pasig, Philippines, in 2015. The current champion is China, which won the second title at the 2019 tournament. The tournament have been won by two national teams: China with two titles and Japan with one title. The 2019 Championship took place in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 13 to 21 July. The 2021 Championship was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic. The FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship was the world championship of volleyball for male players under the age of 23 organized by ''Fédération Internationale de Volleyball'' ( FIVB). The ASEAN U-23 Championship (formerly AFF U-23 Championship) is an international Association football, football competition contested by the national under-23 teams of the member nations of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). AFC U-23 Championship
The AFC U-23 Asian Cup, previously the AFC U-22 Championship (in 2013) and AFC U-23 Championship (between 2016 and 2020), is a biennial international football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. Each edition of the tournament that is in an even year is linked to the qualification process for the Olympic Games, whereby the top three teams in the tournament qualify directly and the fourth-placed team may enter an intercontinental play-off match depending on the slot allocations. Association football has been included in every Summer Olympic Games as a men's competition sport, except 1896 (the inaugural Games) and 1932 (in an attempt to promote the new FIFA World Cup tournament). Women's football was added to the official program at the Atlanta 1996 Games.
