''Umbilical'' is the second studio album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Tiago Iorc, released October 2011. Background Tiago spent little over five months gathering thoughts and musical ideas in his apartment in Brazil before teaming up with New York-based Andy Chase for the production of "Umbilical". Chase — who had previously worked with groups such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Tahiti 80, and The Divine Comedy — pre-produced Tiago's album over the internet before actually meeting with him in Rio de Janeiro for recording sessions. Tiago Iorc
Tiago Iorczeski (born 28 November 1985) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and record producer. As a child, he lived in England and in the United States. Despite having no musical background in his family, Tiago started playing the acoustic guitar at age 8. In 2007 his single "Nothing but a Song" gained popularity and led to the release of his debut album '' Let Yourself In'', which gained notoriety after several of Tiago's songs were featured on Brazilian primetime soap operas, TV ads, and films. Tiago started touring across the country, and in 2009, was the opening act on Jason Mraz's Brazilian Tour. Andy Chase
Andy Chase is an American musician, record producer, and label owner. He formed the band Ivy with Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and Dominique Durand, now his wife. Chase owns Unfiltered Records and co-owned Stratosphere Sound studio with Schlesinger and James Iha of the Smashing Pumpkins. Early life Chase grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. He was a fan of pop and new wave acts in the 1980s such as the Smiths, Talk Talk, Blondie, and the Cars. At a portable home studio, he wrote music and played keyboards and guitar. Tahiti 80 are a French indie pop band from Rouen. The group was founded in 1992 by Xavier Boyer, Pedro Resende, Médéric Gontier and Sylvain Marchand. History Singer and guitarist Boyer and bassist Resende formed the group as students at the University of Rouen, taking their name from a souvenir t-shirt given to Boyer's father in 1980. They recruited guitarist Mederic Gontier, and a year later drummer Sylvain Marchand. James Iha
(born March 26, 1968) is an American rock musician. He is best known as a guitarist and co-founder of the alternative rock band the Smashing Pumpkins. He was a member until the band's initial breakup in 2000 and rejoined in 2018. Iha has also produced songs, contributed guitar, keyboards and vocals and produced remixes for a number of artists, including Midnight Movies, Isobel Campbell, Marilyn Manson, Whiskeytown, Scott Weiland and Michael Stipe. Among his other musical projects, Iha has been a permanent fixture of supergroup A Perfect Circle since 2003. Adam Schlesinger
Adam Lyons Schlesinger (October 31, 1967 – April 1, 2020) was an American musician, songwriter, composer, and record producer. He was a founding member of the bands Fountains of Wayne, Ivy, and Tinted Windows, and was also a member of the band Fever High. He also wrote songs for television and film, for which he won three Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, and the ASCAP Pop Music Award, and was nominated for Academy, Tony, and Golden Globe Award.
