Ukraine In The Eurovision Song Contest 2009
Ukraine was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Be My Valentine! (Anti-Crisis Girl)" written by Evheniy Matyushenko and Svetlana Loboda. The song was performed by Svetlana Loboda. The Ukrainian broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) organised a national final in order to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. The national selection consisted of a semi-final, held on 21 February 2009, and a final, held on 8 March 2009; thirty-one entries competed in the semi-final with the top fifteen advancing to the final. In the final, "Be My Valentine!" performed by Svetlana Loboda was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a seven-member jury panel and a public televote. Oleksandr Ponomaryov
Oleksandr Valeriyovych Ponomariov (; born August 9, 1973) is a Ukrainian singer. He has been awarded the country's "Singer of the Year" seven times. Early life and education Ponomariov was born in Khmelnitskiy, Ukrainian SSR (now Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine). One of his early interests was boxing. When his eyesight started to deteriorate he was forbidden to fight by his doctor. While he had always enjoyed singing, he never thought that music could be his main occupation. Despite this, he applied to a music college where he encountered one drawback: he could not read music. Lithuania In The Eurovision Song Contest 2009
Lithuania was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Love" written and performed by Sasha Song, Sasha Son, which is the artistic name of singer Dmitrij Šavrov. The Lithuanian broadcaster Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) organised the song contest ''Lietuvos Dainų Daina'' (Lithuanian Song of Songs) in order to select the Lithuanian entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. The competition took place over six weeks and involved 36 competing entries. The results of each show were determined by regional televoting. Petr Petrovich Elfimov (, ''Piotr Jalfimaŭ'', , ''Pyotr Yelfimov'') is a singer from Belarus who represented his nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia. He won the national selection of Belarus on 19 January 2009 with the rock/pop song ''Eyes That Never Lie''. The song competed in the first semi-final as the fourth act.
