The University of Technology Australian Football Club (mostly known as the UTS Australian Football Club), nicknamed as ''The Bats'', is an Australian rules football club based in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. It competes in various Sydney AFL competitions, fielding 5 senior men's sides in the Premier Division, Premier Division Reserves, Division One, Division Three and Under 19s Division One competitions, and 3 senior women's sides in the Premier Division, Division One and Division Three competitions. The club plays its home games at Trumper Park Oval in Paddington, New South Wales and at Waverley Oval in Bondi, New South Wales. AFL Sydney is an Australian rules football League, based in metropolitan Sydney, Australia which has been run since 1903. In 1980 was known as the "Sydney Football League" and renamed the "Sydney AFL" in 1998 before adopting its current name in 2009. Trumper Park Oval
Trumper Park Oval is a sporting oval in Paddington, New South Wales. The oval is located at the corner of Glenmore Road & Hampden Street, Paddington and is named in honour of Victor Trumper. The oval has a long history of catering for Australian Football in the form of NSWFL foundation club, East Sydney, as well as catering for cricket and athletics. A series of walking trails connect surrounding streets. Australian football has been played at this oval since at least 1903. To put this date of 1903 in perspective, Australian football was played on Trumper Oval five years prior to the establishment of the first rugby league competition in Australia and only one year after the establishment of the Hawthorn football club. All the Sydney FL grand finals (bar one) between 1952 and 1977 were played at this venue. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an Australian rules football playing field, oval field, often a modified cricket ground.
