The flag of the United Nations is a sky blue banner containing the United Nations' emblem in the centre. United Nations Special Rapporteurs
Special rapporteur (or independent expert) is the title given to independent human rights experts whose expertise is called upon by the United Nations (UN) to report or advise on human rights from a thematic or country-specific perspective. Depending on the specific mandate, there can also be working groups composed of an independent expert from each of the five UN regional groupings: Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and the Western group. Michael Lynk
Stanley Michael Lynk (born 1952) is a Canadian legal academic. He is currently an associate professor at the University of Western Ontario. From 2016 to 2022 he was the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territories occupied since 1967. Early life and education Michael Lynk was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to parents: Sarah and Stanley Lynk. His maternal grandparents were Lebanese emigrants to Canada. Lynk earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dalhousie University in 1974, followed by a bachelor of laws from the same university in 1981, before completing a master of law at Queen's University. Makarim Wibisono
Makarim Wibisono (born 8 May 1947) is an Indonesian diplomat and the former Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories. Early life Wibisono has a masters in International Political Economy from Ohio State University after which he completed his PhD in political science. He has another masters in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University. Richard Anderson Falk (born November 13, 1930) is an American professor emeritus of international law at Princeton University, and Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor's Chairman of the Board of Trustees. In 2004, he was listed as the author or coauthor of 20 books and the editor or coeditor of another 20 volumes. Falk has published extensively with multiple books written about international law and the United Nations. Christopher John Robert Dugard (born 23 August 1936) is a South African professor of international law. His main academic specializations are in Roman-Dutch law, public international law, jurisprudence, human rights, criminal procedure and international criminal law. He has served on the International Law Commission, the primary UN institution for the development of international law, and has been active in reporting on human-rights violations by Israel in the Palestinian territories.
