UMBC Retrievers Men's Basketball
The UMBC Retrievers men's basketball team represents the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I competition as a member of the America East Conference. They play their home games at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Catonsville, Maryland. Their current head coach is Jim Ferry. UMBC made its first Division I postseason appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2008, for which it qualified by winning the America East tournament. The Retrievers are best known for when they qualified for their second NCAA tournament appearance in 2018 by beating the Vermont Catamounts in the America East tournament final and became the first No. 16 seed to defeat a No. 1 seed in the NCAA men's tournament, beating No. 1-seeded Virginia 74–54. America East Conference
The America East Conference (AmEast) is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I whose members are located in the Northeastern United States. The conference is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. 2022 The Basketball Classic
The 2022 The Basketball Classic (TBC) was a Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination men's college basketball postseason tournament featuring National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I teams not selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament or the 2022 National Invitation Tournament, National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The tournament began on March 15 with the championship game played on April 1. The tournament was won by the 2021–22 Fresno State Bulldogs men's basketball team, Fresno State Bulldogs. All games were streamed on ESPN+. The Basketball Classic presented by Eracism was a Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination, fully-bracketed men's college basketball postseason tournament created in 2022 as a successor to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament after its scheduled 2020 and 2021 tournaments were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament featured up to 32 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I teams not selected to participate in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, the National Invitation Tournament, NIT, or the College Basketball Invitational. The 2007–08 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team was an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Big East Conference representing Georgetown University. The team finished with a regular-season record of 27–5, and won the conference regular-season title on March 8, 2008, the first time Georgetown won the Big East regular-season championship in consecutive years and the only time in the original Big East of 1979–2013.
