UAAP Basketball Championship
The UAAP basketball championships are basketball tournaments held from September to December by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, and the men's tournament is the flagship tournament of the UAAP. Basketball is a mandatory sport for all schools. All eight universities participate in the men's, women's, and high school (boys') tournaments. History The tournament is divided into two divisions, the collegiate (formerly seniors') division, which is further subdivided into the men's and the women's tournament, and the high school (formerly juniors'), which is subdivided into boys' and girls' tournaments. The UAAP basketball sport has a rich history of schools establishing dynasties. UAAP Season 17 Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1954 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 17th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of Santo Tomas, the NU Bulldogs defeated the FEU Tamaraws in a single game finals taking their first UAAP men's basketball championship since the league's inception in 1938. This was the only title of NU until they won their second crown 60 years later in 2014. Finals After 16 lean and hungry years, the NU Bulldogs finally wins their first cage title. UAAP Season 42 Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1979 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 42nd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by University of the Philippines, the FEU Tamaraws defeated the UST Glowing Goldies in the finals taking their tenth overall UAAP men's basketball championship and the first of their three-peat title run from 1979 to 1981. The Tamaraws would eventually achieve the first sweep of the tournament (12–0) the following year and were automatically declared champions. The UAAP have seven teams then with the admission of Ateneo in 1978. This was the last finals match-up between FEU and UST until 2015 in Season 78. The 1970 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 33rd year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. No contest (abbreviated "NC") is a technical term used in some combat sports to describe a fight that ends for reasons outside the fighters' hands, without a winner or loser. The concept carried over to professional wrestling, where it is far more common, usually scripted to further a feud, generate heat and/or protect a push.
