U.S. Route 2
U.S. Route 2 or U.S. Highway 2 (US 2) is an east–west United States Numbered Highway System, United States Numbered Highway spanning across the northern continental United States. US 2 consists of two segments connected by various roadways in southern Canada. Unlike some routes, which are disconnected into segments because of encroaching Interstate Highway System, Interstate Highways, the two portions of US 2 were designed to be separate in the original 1926 highway plan. The western segment of US 2 begins at an interchange with Interstate 5 (I-5) and Washington State Route 529, State Route 529 (Maple Street) in Everett, Washington, and ends at Interstate 75, I-75 in St. Ignace, Michigan. New England Road Marking System
, , , , , The New England road marking system was a regional system of marked numbered routes in the six-state region of New England in the United States. The routes were marked by a yellow rectangular sign with black numbers and border. Many signs were painted on telephone poles. The routes were approved by the highway departments of the six New England states in April 1922. Prior to the New England road marking system, through routes were mainly marked with colored bands on telephone poles. These were assigned by direction (red for east–west, blue for north–south and yellow for intermediate or diagonal routes). The Massachusetts Highway Commission convinced the rest of southern New England and New York to use this system in 1915 (New Hampshire and Vermont already had their own schemes, and Maine also opted out), and it was the main system until 1922. State Route 529 (SR 529, officially the Yellow Ribbon Highway) is a Washington state highway that connects the cities of Everett and Marysville. The roadway extends north from an interchange with (I-5), numbered exit 193, past the western terminus of (US 2), its spur route, Downtown Everett and Naval Station Everett to cross the Snohomish River onto Smith Island.
