Twyford Church Of England Academies Trust
Twyford Church of England Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust based in West London and affiliated to the London Diocesan Board for Schools. It currently consists of four academies in the London Borough of Ealing: Twyford Church of England High School, William Perkin Church of England High School, Ada Lovelace Church of England High School and Ealing Fields High School. The trust, in partnership with the local authority, is the hub for the Ealing Teaching School Alliance (ETSA), an alliance of local schools. Description Twyford Church of England Academies Trust was set up in October 2011 in order to allow the diocese to use the strengths built up at Twyford CofE High School to be developed beyond a single school. Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) or academy chain is an academy trust that operates more than one academy school. Academy schools are state-funded schools in England which are directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. The group of schools in a multi-academy trust work together under a shared academy funding agreement. William Perkin Church of England High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Greenford area of London, England. History The school was established in 2013. It is a free school sponsored by the Twyford Church of England Academies Trust. The school is named for scientist Sir William Perkin, a pioneer of the chemical industry and discoverer of the dye mauveine, whose factory was nearby. The school has a mauve school uniform as a tribute to him. In July 2017, a 13-year-old student who attended the school, Karanbir Cheema, died after having a severe allergic reaction at his school in west London on 28 June 2017.
