Tuvalu participated in the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands from 19 November to 2 December 2023. Tuvalu made its first appearance at the 1979 South Pacific Games held in Suva, Fiji. Tuvalu Association Of Sports And National Olympic Committee
The Tuvalu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (TASNOC) is the Tuvaluan organization recognised as a National Olympic Committee (NOC) by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In 2006, Tuvalu satisfied the IOC's criterion of a minimum five national sports federations recognised by their international sports federations, which included basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, boxing and table tennis. TASNOC is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code published by the World Anti-Doping Agency. History TASNOC came into existence when the ''Tuvalu Amateur Sport Association'' or ''Tuvalu Association of Sports'' (TAS) was recognized as the ''Tuvalu National Olympic Committee'' on 16 July 2007. Tuvalu Weightlifting Federation
The Tuvalu Weightlifting Federation (TWF) is the organisation recognised by the International Weightlifting Federation as the weightlifting federation of Tuvalu. History The Tuvalu Weightlifting Federation (TWF) staged its first national competition on 2 July 2013 as part of the Tuvalu Games. The Tuvalu Athletics Association (TAA) allowed the TWF to organized the weightlifting competition, although the event was not sanctioned by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The competition involved 6 females and 18 males. The formation of the TWF follows the success of Tuvaluan weightlifters at international competitions. The Tuvalu national rugby sevens team (Tuvalu 7s) participates in the Rugby Sevens competitions at the Pacific Games and the Oceania Sevens Championship. History The Tuvalu Rugby Union (TRU) was established in 2007 as the organising body for Rugby Union in Tuvalu. The TRU selects the members of the Tuvalu 7s. Tuvalu is a lower ranking rugby nation, with the Tuvalu 7s focusing on skills development. The Tuvalu 7s lost all their matches at the 2011 Pacific Games, and at the 2017 Oceania Sevens Championships. Karalo Hepoiteloto Maibuca Junior (born 10 June 1999) is a Tuvaluan sprinter. He is the son of Ratu Karalo Maibuca Senior, a Fijian, and a mother from Kioa. He was selected to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was given the honour of being the flag bearer for his nation in the opening ceremony alongside Matie Stanley.
