Turo (car Rental)
Turo Inc. is an American peer-to-peer carsharing company based in San Francisco, in the United States. The company allows private car owners to rent out their vehicles via an online and mobile interface in four countries (the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia) and new corporate owners to rent out their cars in France in addition to the four previous countries. In July 2019, the American holding company IAC invested $250 million in Turo, a deal that valued the company at more than $1 billion. According to company filings, as of March 2024 the site had 360,000 active vehicle listings. History Turo was launched as RelayRides in Boston in June 2010. 2025 New Orleans Truck Attack
On January 1, 2025, at around 3:15 a.m. Central Time Zone, CST (UTC−06:00, UTC–6), Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old American man, Vehicle-ramming attack, drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, then exited the truck and engaged in a shootout with police before being fatally shot. Fourteen victims were killed, plus the perpetrator, and at least fifty-seven others were injured, including two police officers who were shot. The attack occurred during New Year's Day, New Year celebrations in the city, which was scheduled to host the 2025 Sugar Bowl later that day.
