The Tupolev ANT-29 (military designation DIP – ''Dvukhmotorny istrebitel pushechny'', "twin-engined cannon fighter") was a 1930s twin-engined, cannon-armed fighter designed by Alexander Arkhangelsky and built by Tupolev. Design work started in 1932 on a twin-engined aircraft capable of carrying two APK-100 cannon. Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Arkhangelsky (, 1892 – 18 December 1978) was a Soviet and Russian aircraft designer and doctor of technical sciences. Hero of Socialist Labour (1947) Biography Arkhangelsky was born in 1892, and graduated from MVTU in 1918. During his studies, he worked at the aerodynamic laboratory headed by Nikolay Zhukovsky, then worked at TsAGI from 1918 to 1936. He designed and built several aerosleds ARBES along with B. S. Stechkin. After the establishment of the aircraft design bureau of Andrei Tupolev at TsAGI, he participated in all ANT designs. Tupolev ANT-21
The Tupolev ANT-21 was a Soviet twin-engined four-seat heavy fighter, which also had the designation MI-3 (''Mnogomestnyi Istrebitel'' – Multi-seat fighter). It was not accepted for production, only two prototypes being built. Design and development In January 1932, the Soviet Air Forces ordered the TsAGI design bureau led by Andrei Tupolev to design a twin-engined multi-seat fighter to replace the KR-6 escort fighter version of the Tupolev ANT-7 twin-engined multi-purpose aircraft. Hispano-Suiza 12Y
The Hispano-Suiza 12Y was an aircraft engine produced by Hispano-Suiza for the French Air Force before the Second World War. The 12Y became the primary French 1,000 hp (750 kW) class engine and was used in a number of famous aircraft, including the Morane-Saulnier M.S.406 and Dewoitine D.520. Its design was based on the earlier, and somewhat smaller, 12X. The 12X did not see widespread use before the 12Y replaced it and became one of the most powerful French designs on the eve of the war. The 12Z was being designed but this was ended by the fall of France and the German occupation. The 12Y was produced under Hispano-Suiza licence in the Soviet Union as the Klimov M-100.
