''Tulad ng Dati'' (Filipino language, Filipino, "Just Like Before") is a Philippine independent film released in 2006. Director Mike Sandejas, calls the film "an Parallel universe (fiction), alternate reality musical drama". The film's plot revolves around the Filipino rock band The Dawn (band), the Dawn, and the film itself is part-documentary, part-fiction; an inadvertent tribute to the Dawn founding member and guitarist Teddy Diaz, who was murdered in 1988, shortly after the band achieved commercial success. The film's title is taken from the band's Tulad ng Dati (album), ninth studio album of the same title, which was also released in 2006 but was not intended to serve as a soundtrack to the film. Jett Pangan
Reginald Jose Pangan (born June 21, 1968), better known as Jett Pangan, is a Filipino actor and musician best known for fronting the Filipino rock bands the Dawn, and the now defunct, the Jett Pangan Group. He is also an actor, appearing in several theater plays, TV, and films, most notably his role in '' Tulad ng Dati'' and his lead role in the musical production of ''Sweeney Todd'' and he played as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Raymund Marasigan
Raimund Emmanuel Parcon Marasigan (born May 22, 1971) is a Filipino musician and record producer. He is best known as the drummer of the alternative rock band Eraserheads. Marasigan has been described as "the busiest man in the Pinoy music scene". Raised in Candelaria, Quezon, Marasigan attended University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, where he met Ely Buendia, who had posted an audition notice for a new band. Inviting his fellow freshmen Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro, they would later form Eraserheads. Their debut album ''Ultraelectromagneticpop!'' The Gawad Urian Awards are annual film awards in the Philippines presented since 1977 by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (), a film critic organization composed of critics, writers, and scholars. It is the regarded as the highest award for a film given by critics in the Philippines and is seen as the counterpart of the United States' New York Film Critics Circle. The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, more commonly known as Cinemalaya, is a film festival in the Philippines held annually during the month of August, traditionally at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, but in recent years the Festival screenings also extend to various cinemas. Its aim is the development and promotion of Filipino independent films. The film festival is organized by the Cinemalaya Foundation, Inc. with the support of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Econolink Investments, Inc. "Salamat" ("''Thank you''") is a song released by the Filipino rock band the Dawn in 1989. It was the lead single on their third album ''Beyond the Bend''. It was written by Teddy Diaz, JB Leonor, Jett Pangan and Carlos Balcells. In its instrumental break, the guitar solo was played by Diaz. Erwin Castillo calls it "an inspired collaboration among The Dawn, our writer Bonnie Melocoton, and our producers." The song's original music video features their new Japanese guitarist Atsushi Matsuura. David Gonzales of AllMusic commented: "It starts with a mysterious-sounding chord progression played on keyboards; a fiery guitar line explodes and the song becomes a fast-paced, tuneful outing, punctuated by spirited keyboard and guitar lines. "Enveloped Ideas" is the debut single by Filipino rock/new wave band the Dawn, from their 1987 eponymous debut album. The song was written by guitarist Teddy Diaz and C. Fineza, and produced by Jose Mari Gonzales. It was engineered by Oscar Mallari, and mixed by Joseph Roxas and Bob Guzman. Background "Enveloped Ideas" is the band's signature song. The lyrics in the first verse are: "Trying pointlessly to understand, having nothing to say, just shadows, what remained boxed inside, this is what I call my enveloped ideas". The independently released single was initially played as a demo at the Manila-based radio station DWXB. Stonefree
Stonefree was a Filipino rock band formed in Antipolo, Rizal, Philippines in 1995 that consists of members Regie Mangubat (bass), Relly Mangubat (drums), Benson Tanoja (guitar) and Miro Valera (vocals). They were recently signed under Warner Music Philippines. Background Originally named after where Relly and Regie Mangubat lived, near Marikina, as The Marikina Sound Machine, they later changed their name to Stonefree. The band started in 1995 after the Mangubat brothers decided to form a band, adding Valera and Tanoja to the group, all hailing from UP Diliman. Contrary to what most people believe, Stonefree is not named after Jimi Hendrix's song but rather a selection made out of a list of other names. Imago is a Filipino rock band composed of Kharren "Kurei" Granada (vocals), Myrene "Maps" Academia (bass), Tim Cacho (guitar), and Mervin Panganiban (drums).
