Tucker B's
Tucker B's are an Australian band, originally from Perth, but based in Sydney since 2005. History The Tucker B's were formed at the end of 1994 by Matt Rudas and Andrew Houston, performing their first gig together at the Harbourside in Fremantle. In 1995, with the addition of Sean Pezzali, they released a tape called ''Pipo Karna Eh''. ''Arm A Drunk'' was released in 1997; shortly afterwards, drummer Sean Pezzali left to work in Australia's north. In 2003, with the addition of Darren Nuttall and Tim Day, the Tucker B's released ''Bish Bosh II: The Bosh Bosh'' through Quietly Suburban Records. The band toured the album extensively throughout Australia. This schedule took its toll, with Tim Day leaving the band, to be replaced by Matthew Maguire from Adam Said Galore. Peabody (band)
Peabody are an Australian four-piece rock band, formed in 1994. Career Peabody formed as a three-piece group after leaving school in Sydney in 1994. They entered the Sydney live circuit, playing at venues like The Lansdowne Hotel and The Iron Duke, then subsequently larger venues such as The Annandale Hotel, The Hopetoun Hotel and The Sandringham Hotel. The band recorded and self-released two early EPs, before beginning an association with Sydney-based independent record label Nonzero Records, founded in 2001. Through Nonzero Records, the band met producer Jamie Hutchings, leader of label-mates Bluebottle Kiss, who produced their first album, 2003's ''Professional Againster'' (named after a song by New Bomb Turks), and their second LP, ''The New Violence'', released in 2005. Spod are an Australian indie, electro band, often styled as SPOD, which formed in 1995. It is also the pseudonym of the band's mainstay member, Brent Griffin, whether he is performing solo or with other members. They have released two albums, ''Taste the Radness'' (2003) and ''Superfrenz'' (September 2008). History Spod were formed in Sydney as an indie, electro duo, first named Jizm, by Brent Griffin (later a.k.a. Spod) on guitar and keyboards, and Mike Rickards. Homebake
Homebake was an annual Australian rock festival, featuring an all-Australian lineup (with the occasional artist from New Zealand). The festival was first held on 3 January 1996 at Belongil Fields in Byron Bay, on the far north coast of New South Wales. The same year saw a second event held at the grounds of the University of Sydney. The festival returned in January 1998 as an East Coast event happening in Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Australia, Gold Coast and Sydney. In December of the same year, it was held again in Sydney this time at the The Domain, Sydney, Domain. In late 1999 the event went on the road again, but this time to only the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast and Sydney. Big Day Out
The Big Day Out (BDO) was an annual music festival that was held in five Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast, Adelaide, and Perth, as well as Auckland, New Zealand. The festival was held during summer, typically in January of each year but was sometimes held as late as early February in some cities including Perth. The event was conceptualised after the Violent Femmes announced a tour of Australia. Promoters Ken West and Vivian Lees sought another act as middle-level support for the band's tour. They succeeded in securing Nirvana (band), Nirvana to play the Sydney leg at the Hordern Pavilion. South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas. Dappled Cities (formerly "Dappled Cities Fly") are an indie rock band from Sydney, Australia. History 1997–2003 The band came together as teenagers in the northern suburbs of Sydney in 1997. Dave Rennick and original drummer Hugh Boyce were joined by Alex Moore on bass and Tim Derricourt on guitar. Keyboards were added occasionally by Mark Bradshaw, and after 2006 more regularly by Ned Cooke. The band started out playing at all-ages shows and charity benefits before they reached legal age to play in the licensed venues in the Sydney CBD. They performed at the Hopetoun Hotel (now defunct), the Excelsior and The Bat and Ball.
