Trowbridge
Trowbridge ( ) is the county town of Wiltshire, England, on the River Biss in the west of the county. It is near the border with Somerset and lies southeast of Bath, 31 miles (49 km) southwest of Swindon and 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Bristol. The town had a population of 37,169 in 2021. Long a market town, the Kennet and Avon canal to the north of Trowbridge played an instrumental part in the town's development as it allowed coal to be transported from the Somerset Coalfield and so marked the advent of steam-powered manufacturing in woollen cloth mills. The town was the foremost producer of this mainstay of contemporary clothing and blankets in south west England in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, by which time it held the nickname "The Manchester of the West". North Perth is a lower-tier municipality in Ontario, Canada. Its name is based on its location in the northern portion of Perth County. The main community in North Perth is Listowel. Other communities include Atwood, Monkton, Elma and Wallace township. The municipality was incorporated in 1998, and is heavily agricultural. As of the 2016 Census, the township had a population of 13,130 in a land area of 493.14 square kilometres. There were 5,098 occupied private dwellings. History Town of Listowel Settler John Binning arrived in 1852 and was the first to create a permanent residence in the area originally named Mapleton. Trowbridge is a district, community and coterminous electoral ward on the eastern edge of the city of Cardiff, capital of Wales. Trowbridge Park is an unincorporated community in Marquette Township, Marquette County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is also a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes and has no legal status as an incorporated municipality. The CDP had a population of 2,287 at the 2020 census. The Trowbridge Archaeological Site is located in the vicinity of North 61st Street and Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas. Discovered in 1939 by amateur archaeologist Harry Trowbridge in his backyard, it was inhabited by the Kansas City Hopewell culture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 24, 1971, and placed on the Register of Historic Kansas Places on July 1, 1977. Trowbridge House
The Trowbridge House is a historic building located in Washington, D.C., that is being renovated to serve as a presidential residence, specifically for the use of former presidents of the United States while visiting the capital city. The only US government residential facility currently dedicated for use by former presidents is the Presidential Townhouse. Constructed in 1859 as the residence of William P. Trowbridge's shrew (''Sorex trowbridgii'') is a species of mammal in the family Soricidae. It is found in southern British Columbia in Canada and in Washington, Oregon, and California in the United States. Taxonomy Trowbridge's shrew was first described in the scientific literature in 1857 by Spencer Fullerton Baird, in a report of surveys and explorations conducted to find a suitable route for a railroad from the Mississippi to the Pacific Ocean. The scientific name given was ''Sorex trowbridgii''. The generic name ''Sorex'' is Latin, meaning "shrew-mouse." The species name "trowbridgii" is a patronym to honor William Petit Trowbridge. The type locality for the species is Astoria, Oregon. Baird's initial record describes four specimens made available to him. The first two were provided by Trowbridge.
