The Roman triumph (Latin triumphus) was a celebration for a victorious military commander in ancient Rome. For later imitations, in life or in art, see Trionfo. Triumph Motorcycles Ltd
Triumph Motorcycles Ltd is the largest UK-owned motorcycle manufacturer, established in 1983 by John Bloor after the original company Triumph Engineering went into receivership. The new company, initially called Bonneville Coventry Ltd, continued Triumph's lineage of motorcycle production since 1902. They have major manufacturing facilities in Thailand. During the 12 months preceding June 2017, Triumph sold 63,400 motorcycles. Roman Triumph
The Roman triumph (') was a civil ceremony and religious rite of ancient Rome, held to publicly celebrate and sanctify the success of a military commander who had led Roman forces to victory in the service of the state or, in some historical traditions, one who had successfully completed a foreign war. On the day of his triumph, the general wore a crown of laurel and an all-purple, gold-embroidered triumphal '' toga picta'' ("painted" toga), regalia that identified him as near-divine or near-kingly. In some accounts, his face was painted red, perhaps in imitation of Rome's highest and most powerful god, Jupiter. The general rode in a four-horse chariot through the streets of Rome in unarmed procession with his army, captives, and the spoils of his war. Triumph TR7
The Triumph TR7 is a sports car that was manufactured in the United Kingdom from September 1974 to October 1981 by British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC), which changed its name to British Leyland (BL) in 1975. The car was launched in the United States in January 1975, with its UK home market debut in May 1976. The UK launch was delayed at least twice because of high demand for the vehicle in the US, with final sales of new TR7s continuing into 1982. It was initially produced at the Speke, Liverpool, factory, moving to Canley, Coventry, in 1978 and then finally to the Rover Solihull plant in 1980. Triumph TR6
The Triumph TR6 is a sports car that was built by the Triumph Motor Company of England. While production began several months earlier, the TR6 was officially introduced in January as a 1969 model year vehicle. The last TR6 was produced on 20 July 1976. Of the 91,850 TR6s produced, 83,480 were exported, almost all of them to the United States, while only 8,370 were sold in the UK. Design and features Triumph Motor Cars had a limited budget for the development of the TR6. While the Karmann-designed exterior looked considerably different from the TR4/TR4A/TR250/ TR5 cars, the same chassis, engines, running gear, doors, windscreen and much of the body tub were carried over from the TR250/TR5 models. Triumph Motor Company
The Triumph Motor Company was a British car and motor manufacturing company in the 19th and 20th centuries. The marque had its origins in 1885 when Siegfried Bettmann of Nuremberg formed S. Bettmann & Co. and started importing bicycles from Europe and selling them under his own trade name in London. The trade name became "Triumph" the following year, and in 1887 Bettmann was joined by a partner, Moritz Schulte, also from Germany. In 1889, the businessmen started producing their own bicycles in Coventry, England. Triumph manufactured its first car in 1923. The company was acquired by Leyland Motors in 1960, ultimately becoming part of the giant conglomerate British Leyland (BL) in 1968, where the Triumph brand was absorbed into BL's ''Specialist Division'' alongside former Leyland stablemates Rover Company, Rover and Jaguar Cars, Jaguar. Triumph International is a Swiss underwear manufacturer founded in 1886 in Heubach, Germany. The company's headquarters has been located in Bad Zurzach, Switzerland, since 1977, and it has branches in 45 countries. Triumph TR3
The Triumph TR3 is a British sports car produced from 1955 to 1962 by the Standard Motor Company of Coventry, England. A traditional Roadster (automobile), open two-seater, the TR3 is an evolution of the company's earlier Triumph TR2, TR2 model, with greater power and improved braking. Updated variants, popularly but unofficially known as the "TR3A" and "TR3B", entered production in 1957 and 1962 respectively. The TR3 was succeeded by the mechanically similar, Giovanni Michelotti, Michelotti-styled Triumph TR4. The rugged ‘sidescreen’ TR, so named for its use of removable plexiglass side curtains, was a sales and motorsport success. Triumph, Guyana
Triumph is a village and regional capital of the Demerara-Mahaica region in Guyana. Paradise, Guyana, Paradise used to be the regional capital, however the administrative building burnt down in 2006. In 2009, a decision was made to rebuild in Triumph, which has therefore become the regional capital. In 1842, the area next to Beterverwagting was bought by Lambert Christian and named Triumph. Christian ran into financial problems, and the people of Beterverwagting tried to buy the land in two terms. The government stepped in and bought the land. The villagers aided by the local newspaper resisted, but to no avail. Triumph and Beterverwagting have since then grown together, and are often referred to as Beterverwagting/Triumph. Norton Villiers Triumph
Norton Villiers Triumph (NVT) was a British motorcycle manufacturer, formed by the British government to continue the UK motorcycling industry. Formation Triumph had been owned by the BSA Group since 1951, but by 1972 the merged BSA-Triumph group was in serious financial trouble. In March 1973 the value of BSA shares slumped, which affected production at Meriden, causing 300 workers there to be laid off. British government policy at the time was to save strategic industries with taxpayers' money, and as BSA-Triumph had won the Queen's Awards for Exports a few years earlier, the industry was deemed eligible for financial support. Benjamin William Bova (November 8, 1932November 29, 2020) was an American writer and editor. During a writing career of 60 years, he was the author of more than 120 works of science fact and fiction, an editor of ''Analog Science Fiction and Fact'', for which he won a Hugo Award six times, and an editorial director of '' Omni''; he was also president of both the National Space Society and the Science Fiction Writers of America. Triumph (William MacIntyre) is a fictional superhero in the DC Comics universe whose first full appearance was in '' Justice League America'' #92 (August 1994). He was created by Brian Augustyn, Mark Waid, and Howard Porter, though the character is primarily associated with writer Christopher Priest.
