Trimountain
Trimountain or Tri-mountain, est. , is a traprock mountain located southeast of Meriden, Connecticut. It is part of the narrow, linear Metacomet Ridge that extends from Long Island Sound near New Haven, Connecticut, north through the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts to the Vermont border. Trimountain is known for its scenic cliff faces, unique microclimate ecosystems, and rare plant communities. The mountain is traversed by the Mattabesett Trail. Geography Trimountain is located in Durham and Wallingford, Connecticut. It takes its name from its overall triangular shape, its three southern pinnacles, and the three notches between the pinnacles. A prominent landscape feature that rises above the surrounding valleys, Trimountain is roughly long by wide, although the steepness of the terrain makes the actual square mileage much larger. Tri-Mountain State Park is an isolated public recreation area located in the towns of Wallingford and Durham, Connecticut. The state park encompasses portions of Fowler Mountain and Trimountain. Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area ( zh, t=參山國家風景區, p=Sānshān Guójiā Fēngjǐngqū) is a List of national scenic areas in Taiwan, national scenic area located within central Taiwan, spanning Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung, Taichung City, Changhua County, and Nantou County. The area is composed of three non-contiguous scenic areas (Baguashan, Shitoushan, and Lishan), which are all named after mountains, hence the name. The three scenic areas were formerly distinct and designated as Taiwan Province, province-level scenic areas. With the deprecation of the Taiwan Provincial Government, the areas were merged into one for easier management on 16 March 2001. The management office is located outside of the scenic area in Wufeng District, Taichung.
