Trifon Trifonov (astronomer)
Trifon Trifonov (born 15 August 1985) is a Bulgarian astronomer and astrophysicist, specializing in the discovery and characterization of extrasolar planets (exoplanets). Trifonov holds research positions at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg, Germany, and the Department of Astronomy at Sofia University in Bulgaria. His contributions include leading exoplanet discovery teams, developing analytical software, and engaging in multinational partnerships aimed at advancing the study of planets beyond our solar system. Research From 2014 to 2016, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Hong Kong, expanding his expertise in exoplanet detection techniques. An atmosphere () is a layer of gases that envelop an astronomical object, held in place by the gravity of the object. A planet retains an atmosphere when the gravity is great and the temperature of the atmosphere is low. Nu Octantis
ν Octantis, Romanization of Greek, Latinised as Nu Octantis, is a binary star in the constellation of Octans. Unusually for having such a late greek letter in its name, it is the brightest star in this faint constellation at apparent magnitude +3.7. Thomas K. Henning (born 9 April 1956) is a German astrophysicist. He was a director at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy between 2001 and 2024. Henning is an expert in the field of star and planet formation. Education and career Henning studied physics and mathematics at the University of Greifswald, specializing in plasma physics.
