Trichothelium Longisetum
''Trichothelium longisetum'' is a little-known species of wood-dwelling, crustose lichen in the family Porinaceae. Found in northeastern Ecuador, it was formally described as a new species by lichenologists Patrick M. McCarthy and Zdeněk Palice in 2003. The species epithet ''longisetum'' refers to the long, narrow that characterize this species. Description The thallus of ''Trichothelium longisetum'' is crustose, thin, and greyish-brown in colour, with a (green algal) that does not form radiating plates. The are numerous, superficial, more or less spherical, and black, measuring 0.52 to 1.58 mm in diameter. These perithecia are notable for their long, narrow, and numerous black setae. The are colourless, elongate to with a length of 42 to 64 μm, and contain multiple septa. (structures bearing ), have not been observed in this species. ''Trichothelium longisetum'' has some similarities to the foliicolous '' Trichothelium ulei'', but can be distinguished from ...

Trichothelium Kalbii
''Trichothelium kalbii'' is a species of corticolous (bark-dwelling), crustose lichen in the family Porinaceae. It was formally described as a new species in 2004 by Robert Lücking. The lichen is named in honour of lichenologist Klaus Kalb, who has made significant contributions to the study of tropical lichens. The type specimen was collected by Kalb from south of Cuenca, Ecuador, at an elevation of . The of ''Trichothelium kalbii'' are hemispherical to more or less spherical, with a diameter of 0.25–0.40 mm and are black in colour. The perithecial , numbering 10–25, form a horizontal crown or are sometimes irregularly scattered in 2–3 layers. The setae are triangular-acute to bristle-shaped, short, and pure black, although their tips can be pale. The lichen's asci are obclavate to fusiform and its ascospores are narrowly fusiform, colourless, and 7–9 times as long as they are broad. ''Trichothelium kalbii'' has an amphipacific distribution, found in three geogr ...
