Triathlon At The 2023 European Games – Mixed Relay
The triathlon mixed at the 2023 European Games, in Kraków, was held on 1 July 2023. A total of 16 teams of four athletes each, two men and two women running in the ''male - female - male - female'' format will compete over the super-sprint relay distance. This will be the first appearance of triathlon mixed relay in the European Games program. Both the reigning Olympic and World Champions at mixed relay, Great Britain and France, are set to start : both have already qualified for the event in Paris 2024. Schedule Current champions This will be the first European Games mixed relay event. The current Olympic, World and Continental champions are as follows: Qualification The fifty-four highest ranked athletes per sex on the Europe Triathlon Ranking as of 3 May 2023 are allocated one quota place for their NOC, respecting the maximum quota allocation of three per NOC per event. Vetle Bergsvik Thorn (born 22 May 1999)alternate link is a Norwegian Triathlon, triathlete. His achievements include two gold medals at the 2023 European Games, in men's individual competition and in the mixed relay. Jess Learmonth
Jessica Learmonth (born 18 April 1988) is a British triathlete. Learmonth is a European, Commonwealth, Olympic and World Triathlon Series medal winner based in Leeds, England where she trains at the Leeds Triathlon Centre. She won the European Triathlon Championship in 2017 and took silver in 2018. She competed in the women's event and the mixed relay at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning silver medals in both disciplines. Learmonth won silver in the 2019 World Triathlon Series. The Europe Triathlon Championships are the main triathlon championships in Europe organised by Europe Triathlon. Vincent Luis (born 27 June 1989 in Vesoul, France) is a French professional triathlete. Besides his many WTS wins and his participation in the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, he won the ITU World Championship in 2019 and 2020, and the Mixed Relay Team World Championship with the French national team in 2015, 2018 and 2019. The World Triathlon Mixed Relay Championships, is an annual team triathlon competition organized by World Triathlon. The competition is completed in teams of four, two men and two women, with each member doing a super-sprint distance triathlon. History The first relay event appeared in 2003 in Tiszaújváros, Hungary as the ITU Team Relay Championships, two races were run one for men's teams and one for women's teams every team would have three members who would each complete one leg and the teams combined time would be their total time.
