Trenton is a city in and the county seat of Gilchrist County, Florida, Gilchrist County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,015 as of the 2020 census, up from 1,999 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Gainesville, Florida Gainesville metropolitan area, Florida, Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Prehistory The first Paleo-Indians reached the north-central Florida area near the end of the Last glacial period, last ice age, as they followed big game south. As the ice melted and sea levels rose, these Native Americans ended up staying and thrived on the peninsula for thousands of years. By the time the first Spanish conquistadors arrived, there were over 250,000 Native Americans living on the peninsula. Trenton is a city in Grundy County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,609 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Grundy County. The city used to be the world's largest producer of vienna sausages (at its biggest employer, the ConAgra Grocery Foods plant, now owned by Nestlé). The Utopian Socialist Ruskin College Movement In 1869, the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad arrived in Trenton. It was built in 1924, and is a three-story, rectangular, Classical Revival style reinforced concrete building with brick walls. It has a concrete foundation and flat roof with shaped parapets with cast stone coping. It features decorative cast stone trim. The school closed in 2005. Trenton is a town located in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded in 1786, it is situated on the east bank of the East River of Pictou. The community gained its name in 1882 at the suggestion of a prominent citizen, Harvey Graham, after he visited Trenton, New Jersey. It was incorporated as a town on 11 March 1911. Economy Since the 1870s, the town's economy was tied to the TrentonWorks factory and its predecessors which occupies a large property along the East River of Pictou. This factory closed permanently in 2016 after various incarnations as a steel fabrication, railcar fabrication, and wind turbine tower fabrication facility. Trenton (2001 population 16,770) is a large community in Central Ontario in the municipality of Quinte West, Ontario, Canada.
