Transport In Macau
Transport in Macau includes road, sea, rail and air transport. Road transport is the primary mode of transport within Macau, although a new rail system opened in December 2019 serving the areas of Taipa and Cotai. The main forms of public transport are buses and taxis. Modes of transport out of Macau include ferries to Hong Kong and mainland China from two ferry terminals, as well as helicopter service to Hong Kong. International flights are available from Macau International Airport. Internal Road Buses and taxis are the major modes of public transport in Macau. Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal
The Taipa Ferry Terminal (; ) is located in Taipa, Macau SAR. It is located in the reclamation area of Pac On and is adjacent to the Macau International Airport. The terminal provides high-speed passenger ferry services from Macau to Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Dongguan. Prior to the opening of the permanent passenger terminal, in order to speed up the pressure of diverting the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, the Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal was built and opened on 16 October 2007. Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal
The Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal (; ), also known as the ''Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal'', ''Macau Ferry Terminal'' or ''Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Pier'' in Chinese (), is a ferry terminal located at Porto Exterior, Sé, Macau, China. History The pier was formerly located near present-day Oceanus Casino, ex-New Yaohan Store on Avenida da Amizade. In 1993, the terminal was relocated to its present location. A new terminal was completed in 2017 for the convenience of travellers of Macau International Airport near Taipa. Sociedade De Transportes Colectivos De Macau
The Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos de Macau (TCM) is one of the bus operators in Macau, Transmac being the other. The company began as a ferry operator in the 1950s, and did not enter bus operations until 1974, when a bridge connecting the mainland with Macau and Taipa ( Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho) was finished. In late 2009, TCM was disqualified from a tender to operate public bus services from late 2010, as it was "four minutes late" in submitting its tender proposal on the tendering deadline. After several months of negotiation, TCM was awarded one of five batches of routes for operation since August 2011. On 1 August 2018, the third bus operator New Era merged into TCM, becoming the largest bus operator in Macau.
