Trans In The City
Trans in the City is a UK based not-for-profit organisation that supports transgender and non-binary people in business. They provide workplace training for companies and host events to support trans people in business. History Trans in the City was founded by Bobbi Pickard in 2017, following her positive experience coming out as transgender in her workplace at BP. In 2022 the organisation became a registered company. Trans in the City runs Student Connect, a support network for transgender, and non-binary students in the UK. Through Student Connect, they host events, share work experience opportunities, and CV building support. They also run the Student Ambassador Scheme, pairing students with mentors who are able to support their professional development. To mark Transgender Awareness Week 2023, Trans in the City launched their free Trans Inclusion E-Learning course. Bobbi Pickard
Bobbi Pickard is a British human rights and LGBTQIA+ rights campaigner, and founder of Trans in the City. She was the first openly transgender employee at BP, and runs a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultancy firm. Life Bobbi Pickard was born in January 1969, and grew up struggling with gender dysphoria from the age three. She was open with her gender identity until aged six, when her father told her that boys didn't wear dresses or play with dolls. Growing up, she struggled to hide her identity, becoming isolated at school. The emotional toll of hiding her true self culminated in a suicide attempt at age 14, when puberty intensified her gender dysphoria. She first shared her gender identity with a select group of people in 1991. Susie Green
Susie Green (born 1957) is the former chief executive officer of Mermaids, a British advocacy organisation for gender variant and transgender youth. She was dismissed on 25 November 2022 after six years of service because the trustees had lost confidence in her ability to lead the organisation. Career Green worked as an IT manager for Citizens Advice from 2002 to 2015 prior to her appointment as CEO of Mermaids in 2016. She stepped down as CEO in November 2022.
