Tour Of Szeklerland
The Tour of Szeklerland is a European cycling stage race held in Székely Land, Romania. Since 2008, the race has been organised as a 2.2 event on the UCI Europe Tour. History Founders Eduard Novák and Róbert Ráduly organized the first edition in 2006 as a regional competition. By 2008, the Tour of Szeklerland became the first cycling race in Romania to hold a UCI 2.2 category. Later that same year, the Tour of Romania also entered this category. In 2022, for the first time in its history, the competition began outside Romania, with the starting line set in Debrecen, Hungary. Székely Land
The Székely Land or Szeklerland (, , Old Hungarian script, Székely runes: 𐲥𐳋𐳓𐳉𐳗𐳌𐳞𐳖𐳇; and sometimes ; ; ) is a historic and ethnographic area in present-day Romania, inhabited mainly by Székelys, a subgroup of Hungarians. Its cultural centre is the city of Târgu Mureș (Marosvásárhely), the largest settlement in the region. Székelys (or Szeklers) live in the valleys and hills of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains, corresponding mostly to the present-day Harghita County, Harghita, Covasna County, Covasna, and parts of Mureș County, Mureș counties in Romania. The 2022 Tour of Szeklerland was the 16th edition of the Tour of Szeklerland, which took place between 8 and 13 August 2022. It was rated as a 2.2 event as part of the 2022 UCI Europe Tour. Brisaspor is a Turkish professional road bicycle racing team based in Kocaeli Province, Kocaeli, and sponsored by the local Brisa Bridgestone Sabancı Lastik company of Turkish Sabancı Group, which produces and distributes Bridgestone tires from Japan. The cycling team is part of the Brisaspor Club. Preparations to form a cycling team goes back to 1978, when a summer camp was opened to build infrastructure. The team was officially established in 1982 with the twelve sportspeople from the summer camp as Lassaspor, which was sponsored by the Turkish Lassa company that is the main facility for the production of both tire brands.
