Tour D'Azerbaïdjan
Tour d'Azerbaïdjan was a 2.1 multi-stage bicycle race of the UCI Europe Tour, which took place in Azerbaijan around May between 2012 and 2017. Each day, participants started on a new phase of the race. The race was held in 7 regions of Azerbaijan and finished in the capital, Baku. Other large cities the race moved through were Oguz, Chamakh, Maraza, Ismayilli, Gabala, Sheki. 2012 tour From 9 to 13 May 2012 the international cycling tour in memory of Heydar Aliyev was held. The tournament was a logical continuation of the last year's event, "Big Caucasus". But unlike its predecessor, it consisted of five stages, and became the first professional cycle event in the history of independent Azerbaijan. The competitions were held under the auspices of the UCI category 2.2 U23 (for athletes under 23 years old). In general, the race was attended by 180 cyclists, 16 of whom were women. The history of cycling in Azerbaijan began in 1930, when bicycles were first imported from Russia. History Initially, bikes were popular among pupils and students, and in the 1940s they became widely used by almost the entire population without exception. The same year, the first amateur bicycle race was launched and was held every four years. 10 years later the first professional racers begin to perform in Azerbaijan - Sabzali Museyibov and Zargarli Hussein, who later became a pioneer in the training of professional cyclists in Azerbaijan. 2015 Tour D'Azerbaïdjan
The 2015 Tour d'Azerbaïdjan was a five-day cycling stage race that took place in Azerbaijan in May 2015, as the fourth edition of the Tour d'Azerbaïdjan. It was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour. The race included five stages, starting in Baku on 6 May and returning there for the finish on 10 May. The 2014 champion was Ilnur Zakarin (then ), but he was not present to defend his title. The race was won by Primož Roglič (), who won a solo victory on the second stage of the race and went on to defend his lead to the finish. He finished the race 34 seconds ahead of Jasper Ockeloen (), with Matej Mugerli () third. Roglič's teammate Marko Kump won a stage and the points classification, while won both the team classification and the mountains classification through Oleksandr Surutkovych.
