Toronto Falcons (1975–1982)
Toronto Falcons Soccer Club ( pl, Toronto Sokoły) was a Canadian soccer club founded in 1975 that operated in the National Soccer League (NSL). The team initially operated in Oakville, Ontario under the name Oakville United, then moved to Toronto as the Toronto Falcons. The club's fledgling years were spent in the Second Division of the NSL, and ultimately secured promotion in 1977. Toronto achieved success in the First Division by winning the NSL Cup in 1978, and the regular-season championship in 1980. The Falcons competed in the NSL for eight seasons from 1975 till 1982. Janusz Żmijewski
Janusz Henryk Żmijewski (born 4 March 1943) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a forward. Playing career Born in Radzymin in the Masovian Voivodeship, he spent most of his career with Legia Warsaw. After his tenure with Legia he had stints with Ruch Chorzów, Avia Świdnik, A.A.C. Eagles, Polonia Warsaw, MKP Pogoń Siedlce, and KS Piaseczno. When he finished off his career in Poland he went overseas to Canada to sign with the Toronto Falcons of the National Soccer League. During his tenure with Toronto he won the NSL Championship in 1980. He concluded his career with local amateur clubs like Toronto Polonia, Hamilton Legion, and Mississauga Polonia. Jerzy Patoła
Jerzy Patoła (April 19, 1946 - July 1, 2016) was a Polish footballer who played in the Ekstraklasa, and the National Soccer League. Career Patoła began his football career in 1964 with Zagłębie Sosnowiec of the Ekstraklasa where he played for 13 seasons. During his tenure with Sosnowiec his achievements were reaching the Polish Cup finals in 1970/1971, finishing runners up three times, and featuring in several Intertoto Cup tournaments. He made his debut for the club on May 24, 1964, in a match against Ruch Chorzów, and made his final appearance on November 30, 1975, against Lech Poznań. In 1976, he went overseas to Canada to sign with Toronto Falcons of the National Soccer League. He played with the club until the 1981 season. Tadeusz Polak
Tadeusz Polak (born November 17, 1944) is a Polish former footballer who played in the Ekstraklasa, North American Soccer League, and the National Soccer League. Polak began his career with Wisła Kraków of the Ekstraklasa in 1958. He recorded his first goal for the club on October 14, 1964 against Karpaty Krosno. In total he played in 185 matches, recorded fifteen goals, and won the Polish Cup in 1967. In 1974, he went overseas to Canada to sign with Toronto Metros-Croatia of the North American Soccer League. He featured in the Soccer Bowl '76 against Minnesota Kicks and won the championship by a score of 3-0. In 1979, he signed with the Toronto Falcons of the National Soccer League.
