Kendal Tornado Football Club, formerly known as Tornado Football Club Pekanbaru, is an Indonesian football team based in Kendal, Central Java. They set to play in Liga 2 from 2025–26 after promotion from Liga Nusantara in 2024–25 and their homebase is Kebondalem Stadium. History Tornado FC was founded in 2018 and played its inaugural season that same year. The club was crowned champions of the 2019 Liga 3 Riau and finished as runners-up in both 2021 and 2023. Tornado joined Liga Nusantara for the 2024–25 season after finishing fourth in Group 2 of the fourth round of the Liga 3 National Phase. On 17 February 2025, the club secured promotion to Liga 2 for the first time in its history, following a 3–0 victory over PSGC in Matchweek 5 of the Championship Round, Group X. 2023–24 Liga 3 (Indonesia)
2023–24 Liga 3 is the eighth season of the Liga 3 under the current name and the ninth season under the current league structure, and the only amateur league football competition in Indonesia. The tournament was organized by Provincial Association of PSSI for the provincial round and PSSI for the national round. Teams that qualify for the last 8 of Liga 3 are entitled to promotion to 2024–25 Liga 2. Karo United was the champion in the 2021–22 season. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season.
